You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Apparently it's a no no at the Park and Ride sites. Charity ride tomorrow with mrsmidlife's office crew, Doncaster to York up the TPT, finish at Rowntree Park/Winning Post Inn.
I want to leave my car from late afternoon today until mid afternoon tomorrow, driving 5 of us back. Will I find somewhere on a side street off Bishopthorpe Road or is it all resident permit only? I don't mind paying for a car park, but I don't think the pay and display ones allow you to buy a ticket for overnight and into the following day. Cheers.
Edit: suggestions don't have to be close to the finish as I'll have the bike with me to go get it.
I parked at York station last year from about 10 am till 8 pm when the tour of Yorkshire was on and it was not too expensive.
Don't know if they allow overnight parking.
Just leave it parked on someone elses driveway.
A lot of its permit parking off Bishopthorpe Rd the closer to town you get but as you go further out you'll find somewhere. Worst, you should be ok leaving the car on the road that comes off Tadcaster Rd down to the Knavesmire.
The council P&D can be used but the overnight tickets are between 6pm and 8am so you have to be there to change them.
Barbican has a QPark that you can book in advance online, whether they have a space at short notice I don't know.
There's a car park behind the station that you can book overnight in advance.
If you're there less than 24hrs in total then it's surprisingly cheap.

But, it looks like you can't book for today online - may be worth ringing them though
I live in Fulford, just over the millennium bridge from bish road. Free parking outside my house.
Email in profile if it's any help.
Can we hijack this thread to test the water for some sort of regular singletrack ride for York folk? I head out to Dalby every 1-2 weeks but there's usually just 2 of us so always nice to add more people/route variation...
^ OO. My comments were made as an ex-York resident. Live in the hills now 🙂
I'm a roady (sssshhhh!)

I drive into York due to not living there which is why I knew about parking.
Plus I'm [s]old[/s] middle-aged and slow, social rides are a special hell of struggling to keep up at the back 🙂

There's a social ride at Dalby every Tues night that sets off at 6:30pm from visitor centre, split out into 3/4 groups of varying ability.
Generally mix in bits of the red route and some off piste trails, maybe come along one night?
Quick follow up from me, the resident permit areas finish south of Butcher Terrace, the one that leads from Bishopthorpe Road down into the park to meet the Millennium Bridge. Friday was very rainy so there were few tourists about and plenty of parking in the next few streets down without inconveniencing anyone greatly, I parked up on Beresford, the next one down, and toddled back home on the train.
The ride was a great success, 32 assorted cyclists of all shapes and sizes of varying experience trundled the 48 miles up the Transpennine Trail from Doncaster. Everyone who started finished, no injuries and no mechanicals apart from a handful of punctures.
If anyone is localish and organising an event, we had (and paid for, it's his livelihood and he's good at it) great support from http://www.bicyclebuddy.co.uk/pages/bicycle-support.html who can support your event or holiday doing the sherpa duty or guiding, we also were loaned a 20 bike trailer for getting the bikes home again by the good folks at http://bikelibraries.yorkshire.com/bike-libraries/club-doncaster-bike-library,-doncaster, who have loan bikes for free if you need them, handy if you have mates wanting to try a ride without splashing the cash (this is Yorkshire).
Anyway, it was a nice low key, inclusive day out with mates and so far we've raised over two and a half grand supporting local people living with cancer, so if you're feeling flush:
