Is that like a yellow snow warning - Don't eat yellow snow - but for rain?

The rain's been quite brown in East Lancs, or is when it reaches the rivers.

I am also worried what the Amber wind warning will bring - bad smells?

Weirdly when I nipped out into the garden at 03.00 today to turn the wheelbarrow upside down as it was scraping and tapping in the wind, the air smelled strongly of sulphur dioxide. I could understand it if it was coming from the direction of Clitheroe Cement Works to the NE but it was a westerly wind and there's not much except Preston between us and the sea, and even that doesn't have any heavy industry. Possibly an airstream from the eastern USA?

the air smelled strongly of sulphur dioxide.

It was the Pickled Egg Eating World champs (PEEW)  in Preston over the weekend.

I was very thankful of the Southampton Met Office forecast being wrong today, in that I barely felt a drop of rain on delivery or commuting.

But that headwind in this morning was mental, having to actively pedal 38/17 gear down Lance's Hill instead of freewheeling at ~30mph, while heading to and crossing Northam Bridge felt like going up a ~5% incline rather than being flat and a tiny bump.

The westerly home was fun though, encouraging me to put a bit more effort in than normal. 🙂

Weirdly I thought the same thing at about 6 yesterday (Reading), despite the rain and the wind it smelt like fireworks.

Sulphur dioxide you say?
Could be dead people.

Some people pay for the yellow rain experience. Apparently.
