Sorry if I missed this thread but has anyone found any yeast for sale anywhere?

Bought some on Amazon earlier in the week. Arrived today, quite pricey, but couldn't get any in the shops.

I know somewhere in Stockport if that's in your locale?

When I was staying in the corona ward I rewatched the first series of Afterlife. I got the the scene about breast milk rice pudding and bread made from vaginal yeast. I laughed so much I got into a coughing fit that sent my o2 levels through the floor and resulted in a proper telling off from a nurse

Still some in shops here but sells quick probably easy enough to post out. Not sure when I’m next shopping but I’ll try to pick some up if you like.

I just bought 500g from a trade place online, postage was a bit steep but only around £4 for the yeast itself

Mrs SaxonRider has been able to source our yeast from ebay with no trouble at all.

I'm still puzzled about where it is all going. There's plenty of bread in the supermarket, so why is there still so much demand for yeast?

People are trying bread making while they've got some time on their hands.
Maybe this is also why there's plenty of bread in the shops!

It's to go with the flour that keeps selling out. People have a yen to bake some lockdown loaves even though there's plenty of bread in bakers and supermarkets.

Some of the wholesalers are now open to the public. Try Bidfood or Brakes.
I got a 500g pack of yeast, plus 16kg of bread flour, that will do for a while.

I've got a 500g pot of bakers yeast that happy to send on for the cost of postage (well, courier collection and postage - we're a 'shielded' household so I'm going nowhere near a post office any time soon. Which probably makes it relatively expensive TBH)...

Fresh yeast from the local baker, I split it into portions and freeze it. Plus I keep a sourdough starter.

Freshly baked bread only really lasts a day, so if you are limiting the number of trips to the supermarket to once a week it makes sense to bake your own. Plus you know it’s not been sat on a shop shelf with people coughing, sneezing or prodding it.

Got some Fermipan Dried active yeast from eBay. Took a while to be delivered but we’ll worth the wait, the yeast seems to be much better than Allison’s, loads more active. Makes great bread.
