So you may have seen my bikes were nicked a couple of weeks back.
Had them very under insured but covered for $4500. Assessors valued my stolen bikes at just over $15k. Bugger.
Insurers paid out $4500 but finding a new bike is like.... Super difficult. Wait times for stock and the LBS's expecting little to no stock coming and a thoroughly sh!t Christmas for bike sales.
Took the famalam for a weekend away camping at a music festival last Fri. As we were turning right into the venue, a Land Cruiser, towing a dual axel trailer with a car on the back..... Smashes into the back of us as we turn, LC doing 80kmph +. Shunted to (borrowed) trailer into our car, conseteena'd the trailer and smashed the back end of the car. It's actually broken the back that holds the tow ball. Kids screaming and wife less than impressed. All a bit sore but not significant injuries. Imagine trying to organise recovery and insurance with very little phone signal!
So a flat bed truck arrived on Sunday, limped my car and trailer off site as he needs to angle-grind the trailer off. Tells me to go back inside the venue and he'll call when ready to go.
I get a phone call of HIS boss. He's slipped on the trailer and done his back in. I get back to the truck and he's hanging off the drivers door, back in spasm! So then had to organise ambos and a recovery for his truck!
I just get all the luck eh??
Wrecked car. No bikes. Back at work today. Feeling a little p!ssed off and annoyed and can't even buy a decent bike to go ride away my sorrows!
*Ahh* a good ol' STW whinge. Noice.
Well things are looking better on the bike front.
I might have snagged the only Focus Jam 6.9 in large which is expected to hit the shop on 13th Oct.
Potential NBD thread coming soon.
That's not a great run but things can only get better from here on!
I hope you all got whiplash injuries 😉
I'd be feeling your pain except you said "famalam" in your OP and now I think not enough bad things have happened to you.
“famalam” allamalamadingdong?
Or,
Woah Black Betty, famalam.
I hope you all got whiplash injuries 😉
And that any compo you claim is broadly the cost of a nice bike each. 😎

Precisely (just in case anyone thought I was wishing further bad luck on his family)!
Shame about the bag of Rolex watches you had tied to the tow ball too.
That does sound like rubbish luck, just out of curiosity why did you have the bikes underinsured?

I once had to claim on insurance for my Scott insured for about £3,000. The claims handler explained that he had found a Scott bike on line for about £5,00 and didn't intend to pay out more than that.
It was just a standard house insurance policy and when I ticked the Bikes option there was a small box to enter 'name' into which I could only fit "Scott" rather than "Scott Strike G-Zero Team Issue".
I managed to speak to his supervisor who understood the concept of a company making more than one model at more than one price point but I did have to prove which model it was.

To save a bit of cash on the premium each month, as both bikes were "extra" individual items. I factored in what I paid, what I'd upgraded etc and significantly under-estimated their replacement value. By $10k it seems! You might have seen my thread about insurance cover and are your bikes covered properly. Seems lots of people are under-insured too.

Fair enough,
I have mine covered for the full value of what i paid, i also have a folder of all the receipts for the parts i paid, where i bought second hand i saved a screenshot of the ebay listing/fb marketplace ad etc and then the bank transfer/paypal amount as evidence to my insurer should the worst happen.
I also invested in a real heavy duty strong chain, lock and wall anchor.
Hope your luck improves soon dude.
Thanks man, appreciate it.
I actually bought a bike last night. Against my better judgement and lack of much else. Got a Stumpy Carbon Comp in grey. SLX and Fox 34s. I tried the S3 and it actually felt good (previously had a large Stumpy which felt a little larger). The shop agreed to change the 150mm dropper to a 170 and got some nice Deity pedals and the wheels have the tubeless conversion done. I'm not too sure what the rims are but the hubs are Shimano with centrelock. The wheels feel a bit stiffer than the Rovals but will check it out over the weekend and do a maiden voyage.
So yeah, things are on the up 🙂 Have a great weekend.
So the car can be fixed, and so can the trailer.
Problem is, getting parts in! They're expecting to have it done by December.... possibly.
Aphex2k
Do you not worry slightly that you're announcing to the thieves that the buffet's open again, come and get it?

Have you seen that thread about the bloke getting a nasty surprise hire car bill after an accident? Might be worth acquainting yourself with it if you are running around in someone else's motor until the end of the year.
