At the kids' granny's house so there's five of us eating...

A 2kg bag of spuds
10 eggs worth of Yorkshire pudding
1.8 punnets of mushrooms ( seemed a bit greedy to eat them all!)
4 huge onions
Didn't count them but I guess about 30 sausages, perhaps more <edit, just counted 25 in the pictures so must have been around 35>

When I'd cooked the veg and sausages I realised there wasn't really much room in the trays for the batter, so I removed about 9 sausages loads of onions and some shrooms. We ate them as a hoars de ouvre 🙂

So we had one tray of toad int' hole

Then another

Then the potatoes were cooked ( was a bit slow with only two ovens) so we had them:

With a third tray of toad int' hole

There was a bit of batter left over so I cooked a fourth tray and the big'un ate that with maple syrup.

OK, so he didn't eat it all...

There's also a tiny corner of toad left.
And two tiny bits of potato...

But I class that as a win. The first time ever they haven't eaten everything.

Puddings appear, unlike Jesus to have failed to rise.

Why all the "extra's" - mushrooms/onions/bacon - it's just weight the batter couldn't support. Save the bacon and mushrooms for the breakfast next morning and the onions for the gravy.

4/10.

There has never been left over toad in our house - a tray of 12 between the 2 of us is the norm but I'd like more.

As a kid we used to have yorkshire puddings and gravy as a starter - I miss those days.....

I would love an invite for dinner the Generalist

A very good effort getting through all that, but I'd prefer onion gravy and separate sausages to the yorkies. Can't have flat yorkies!

Not that there's usually any left over yorkie's here, but on the rare occasion there has been they're nice with some jam on.

Never seen mushrooms in a Toad in the hole 🙂

I used to love having the left over Yorkshire pud cold , my mums was a rather less fluffy stodgy firm flat variation made in a round tray so we had quarter slices of it.

We never had onion gravy tbh but we were probably heathens.

Defo gravy. Goes without saying.

Puddings appear, unlike Jesus to have failed to rise.

😂😁🙂

Oven problems. The first one rose fine, as it ended up touching the roof of the top oven. The next two were a bit flat as they were sharing the main oven with the potatoes.
4th one also rose properly.

Yorkshires freeze ok so I always make too many and freeze the remainder. Just pop them in a hot oven for a few minutes...

Given food price inflation, you'll need that fiver for a bag of them!

My wife makes a great stodgy heavy toad in the hole ( she doesn’t mean to as she’s trying to get it light and fluffy).
I much prefer it stodgy so when I hear her moan I know I’m in for a nice tea😂

Will have to try with mushrooms next time
