I need to run XP mode on a vista laptop so I have installed virtual pc 2007 and started the xp install, it goes fine until I get to the product key screen , I have looked in the unattend folder in i386 and found the key but it won't accept it.....the disc is a proper hologram disc but it says it's for a new pc only......I only want xp so I can run an old copy of Vagcom , which I can't get to work on vista.....
Any ideas
Thanks
Anthony
The key in the unattend.txt can't be used in that manner, despite what the Internet might have you believe. Have you still got the PC it came with?
This any use? http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/usb/usb-config-vista.html
Ahh thought that might be the case, not sure where the disc came from I've had it for years .....any way of finding the key that's on the disc...I'm using third party cable for Vagcom, had it working a while ago but new laptop isn't playing ...
Thanks
There isn't a key on the disc. Think about it - they'd have to burn millions of different discs if that were the case.
What version of XP is it?
Yeah, never thought of that

Just download the latest version of VCDS. . . Unless of course you're using a clone.

Or upgrade to Win 7 Pro, comes with a free XP virtual machine.....
