Got myself a new laptop system and have installed XP on it. The system is running a 160GB HDD and Windows Home edition. Its running in RAID mode at the moment.
For some random reason the HDD has been designated the drive letter of 'H'.
Im not too arsed about this, Im just happy its working. However my problem is I want to install Flash on this system but I cant as Flash is designed to only install to drives designated as 'C'.
Ive tried to use the Computer Management tool in XP to create a partition but it wont let me, and it wont let me change the drive letter designation either. I have restarted the system, gone into safe mode and tried it there with Admin priviledges but still no joy. I only want a small amount of space hiving off to create a new 'C' drive, probs less than 100MB would do.
Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this little problem?
RAID ?
don't you need 2 HDD for that ?
yeah, but for some reason XP wouldnt install in the other mode (U-ATA I think), kept crashing the system during install so I just chose the one that worked
Partition magic ?
Mind you, I'd be wary of partition magic'ing a HDD that was configured as a Raid Array by Windows.
Somewhere in the building I have a second HDD that I will chuck in, might solve the problem. If not then Ill try and get XP to reinstall under UATA mode.
sorted.
