Anyone else notice the rather large increase in "For Sale" threads suddenly from sales section only posters.
Some of whom only have 2-3 posts, others who have dozens = all of which are sales only. Lazy links to Pinkbike, no pics, etc.
Surely as the forum is supposedly run as an "add-on" to the magazine and the sales section is for members to sell to other members the mods should be pulling them all? Hardly contributing to the forum other than lining their pockets.
As suggested a number of times on the forum - make the sales section private for "P" members only would noth stop this happening AND bring in an increase in revenue to the site.
UKGS'ers for example charge £12 a year for access to all the Help sections, For Sale, etc and it has a huge members base, hundreds of threads daily and much more.
No one bats an eyelid at paying to have access to the sales section.

The classifieds section is pretty quiet at the minute. Seems to have been for a while. 😕

Plenty of people contribute to the forum without being a P member. I do agree that classifieds only users aren't in the spirit of the place though.

They still generate ad revenue though I expect?

Didn't one of the motorbike sites set up so you had to have made a certain number of posts in other forums before you had access to classifieds?

Probably just lead to astro turfing in bike section...

Look at the forum overview.
The hookey bike parts market makes up quite a percentage of ad revenue.
🙂

It’s those gross profiteers that really grind my gears.

As long as it bike related why worry...Its not like they are trying to sell cars in the classified.

The P thing is annoying. Mr Pea and I subscribe to the magazine but it’s in his name so I’m not a P.

Couldn't agree more; the classifieds forum is shite and I think the forum owners know it is, but are happy anyway as it's a nice little earner for them.
I really don't know why people bother with it, it seems people are happy to repeatedly post the same thing over and over again for months on end!
There's not even a feedback thread.
If you want to sell you wares, get to Facebook or Ebay is my advice
