I'm only a casual dabbler in gaming so I've not bought 4 yet as I've barely scratched the surface of 3.

Forza Horizon 4 on Gamepass currently, £1 for 3 months of ultimate plus a shed load of other great games. Well worth it for a squid, just remember to cancel after 3 months as it’s £10.99 after that.

I got fh3 and 4, again not very good but enjoy it. Happy to have a STW race off type thing.

What are the go to racing games for PS4 these days? Very much an occasional gamer here too; never even really ventured ‘online’...

Dirt Rally 2 is supposedly good V8.

I rarely bother with driving games these days.

F1 2019 is pretty good, as is GT Sport on PS4. Prefer my Xbox for the Forza series personally.

I’d be up for some of this. Can’t remember which forza’s we have at present. Definitely horizon 2 & 3 and a couple of the motorsport one too, definitely the one with the Ford GT on it.

Dirt rally 2.0 is mega hard though I haven’t set up tyres and brakes effectively enough so it feels like dancing on ice

V rally 4.0 is epic in a more controllable scenery type landscape of stages is unreal

The missus bought me Dirt Rally 2.0 for Xmas. Its good but as said ****in hard, just about mastered FWD motors at the moment. Tend to play Wreckfest online as its good to kill an hour or so and brilliantly rule free!

@tdog its a game very similar to Demolition Derby back in the day, lots of online banger racing on figure 8 tracks ect...its a good laugh!

I built a PC just to play FH4, have had a look at previous versions but from what I read in reviews the new one is the best so far.

I'm on Ultimate, have Horizons 3 already but could do 4. Think I have one of the Dirt games too.

I recently bought an Xbox and I’m enjoying Dirt 2.0. Got a G920 wheel, shifter and I’m currently working on adding a handbrake too.

It’s really, really hard! Very satisfying once you get the hang of a particular car though. I’ve moved on from the Mini Cooper to the Escort RWD

It does, but you have to get to a certain point before it unlocks it.

Possibly. They did a silly deal earlier this year where Ultimate was £1/month or something, so I bought like two years' worth.

So I have the full copy of FH4 but I don’t have any game pass or anything like that. I’m a late returner to video games and I really don’t understand it at all and it’s not easy to find out! Can anyone explain? What do I need to be able to drive against people I know who I may have the details of (eg you guys).

I bought an Xbox based on fh4 (& red dead 2). The map of Edinburgh is incredible, Arthur’s seat is so well done. It amazes me what is possible these days

@swedishmetal You need an Xbox live sub. Should be quite easy to find a £1 for 3 months. I haven’t got one based on how bad I drive and lack of time in the evening to actually race!

Once I have completed the house work like a good boy, I’ll try finish downloading Forza 4

Though so does Microsoft store through your xbox home interface and can pay via PayPal

Did your Xbox not come with a chat headset? You can probably an earpiece of the type that comes with almost every mobile phone ever.

Just seen, there's "Descenders" on Game Pass. It's a downhill MTB game, looks like SSX Tricky on wheels. No idea if it's any good or not but might be worth a poke.

I haven’t been looking for multiplayer yet, how can I find out if I have got far enough? I e completed most things on the main map, not so much the races but a lot of them.

I’m playing on a PC BTW, shouldn’t make much difference I suppose.

In FH4 you have to complete the prologue, which is all four seasons IIRC.

A quick google would suggest:

1)Finish the Opening Segment
2)Qualify for Autumn
3)Qualify for the First Showcase Event
4)Qualify for Winter
5)Qualify for the Second Showcase Event
6)Qualify for Spring
7)Qualify for the Third Showcase Event
8)Qualify for the Horizon Roster

You might have to reach driver level 20 also, I'm not 100% clear on that.

It's kinda essential for organising races and suchlike. You don't want to start a class B race and one eejit turns up in an X-class. The only people you hear are those in your chat party, it's not a free-for-all even in public games.

The 'chat' headset is just that, there's a control block on the end for volume / mute mic. Most (all?) other headsets that use the 3.5mm jack route game sounds through them too, though there's a mixer control where you can change the balance of game / voice.

The official one is cheap and cheerful, but it does the job if all you want is voice comms.
