Hello
After a long long time out the seat, im looking out for a green lane bike, then with a view to some enduros hopefully next year. Mainly looking at 250 4 stroke.
<span style="font-size: 0.8rem;">
WR250F / CRF250X / Sherco 250 se</span>
im thinking 2010 onwards, but if there was a genuine older bike 2005/6/7 etc I would consider that,
What the thoughts on the overall best bike?
I’m leaning towards the WR for the reliability etc, but like the crf, and the Sherco seems real good on some reviews.
my local Mx / enduro shop (Ex Works rider etc) said WR because of the reliability, and said the CRF’s have various motor / reliability issues.
Any thoughts?
Many thanks 👍👍
the newer WR250 's not so good as the older ones, pre 2013 I think, otherwise pick the colour you like and go and enjoy
Would have to be Wr250 for me. Spent many happy hours in the saddle of my mates spare. Never seemed to get round to getting my own but great bikes..
crf250x suffer from valve issues, mainly due to neglect or abuse. But they are certainly prone to it and on 10 year old bikes its worth keeping in mind.
Early Wr is more towards the trail side and a bit less MX then the crf.
Sherco is typical euro stuff, not as well built. Likely to be a bit rougher around the edges.... Probably very capable though.
Got for a WR, excellent bikes.
The later ones are lighter, faster and more heavily relatable to the YZF models (not necessarily a good thing, depends on skill level and intended usage)
P.s I note you've just joined and have 1 post...this is a cycling forum, not motorcycle:)
oops sorry all for posting on here, thanks lots for your help

I will delete As it’s in the wrong place 👏👍
no need to delete it, just ask the mods to move it
I loved the WR, with a rejet and a YZ pipe.
CRF needed valves doing all the time, arent there 2 versions, the R and X?
