We have - came with the new house. In two years we've not called anyone on it, or received any calls - not even a cold-call.
We have one in a drawer that comes out occasionally when we have a power cut. Rural Cumbria no mobile reception so need to plug an old phone in to get communication when there is no leccy. Yes people still have landlines.
Recently bought a Jackery Power Station to keep the wifi router going in power cuts so even we will be able to keep going.
Still a landline luddite here but haven't seen a phone book since I left home as a teeneager - I am now over 50.

We have one according to BT, but we've never plugged a phone into it.
My parents in their 70's despite both having mobile phones still treat it as a gospel, if it rings, they do all they can to answer it then get annoyed that it's a cold caller.
Same with their front door, if someone knocks, even if it's a jehova they still feel an impending need to answer it and say no we're not interested.
On the contrary, if someone rings me and I dont recognise the number I don't pick up, if someone knocks at the door and I'm not expecting them it's likely someone I DGAF about talking to or want to talk to so I don't open the door, if they knock twice I ask what they want on the ring doorbell as it's usually almost always something to do with charity or cleaning my gutters. They can't wrap their head around this and usually always say "but what if it's something important?"
Still a landline here because we have a very flaky mobile signal. I say landline but it's a VOIP handset. My mobile has WiFi calling but I can't force it to always use WiFi. If I could I'd bin the land line.

At least we get great broadband many rural communities have crap broadband and will be ditched from hardwired technology as well. Also we are well heeled enough to consider such things but many are not

Me to0. Like a naive idiot I actually delivered them too - seemingly people on the routes I was given hadn't had one for years, drivers had just emptying their car into the nearest skip. Remember the blue hands though 🙂 barely more than broke even on the petrol costs. It was only the compensation from a farmer after his dog attacked me that made the whole exercise worthwhile.
I delivered those as well, I used to dream about dogs running around the side of houses barking and snarling
There might be an old one in the little cupboard under the stairs, but I haven’t had one delivered for years.
I do have a landline, there’s some sort of change involving EE coming up, but nobody’s explained what it involves, what will happen with my broadband that BT supplies, or how it affects the connection from my Sky Q box. I’ve never seen a need to change from BT Internet, I’ve never had a need for super-fast broadband, and the cheap introductory deals offered by other providers always seem to end up costing about the same after the six months are up.
Plus I’ve never had any issues with the service since I had it installed.
