I'd spend a night in a haunted house.

Or to give it it's proper name, a "house."

I've spent half a day in an abandoned Victorian asylum (about 15 mins on my own when we decided to go off exploring in different directions) and that was more than enough for me!

Edit - not a believer in ghosts but too many H P Lovecraft stories when I was little affected me somewhat

Spent a night in Storthes Hall mental hospital near Huddersfield which has been abandoned for a long time when I was about 17. We left the candles on all night because we were crapping ourselves- there was still a chair with a load of straps on it and pigeons moving around sounding like people.

Interesting graffiti too.

Reminds me of my younger years, working being behind the bar in a back street boozer.

It was a quiet Wednesday night and Alan, the resident alcoholic dopehead, was in his usual place at the end of the bar, keeping himself to himself, nibbling on a little cube of cannabis resin, as was his want.

"Simon" he said, in hushed tones "come here a sec".

I walked over.

"I've been thinking." he said. "I need your opinion on something."

"Go on then" I said. "Are you alright mate?"

"Er, yeah. Thing is, if you woke up in the morning in a field, and you couldn't remember anythng from the night before, but you had grass stains on your knees and you were bleeding from your @r$e. Well, er, would you tell anyone?"

"God" I said, " I don't know. Probably not"

"Great" he said, smiling. "Do you wanna come camping?"

🙂

Seeing as 'haunted' isn't a real thing, yes.

munro - on the subject of interesting graffiti, there's a wall on
my commute that sports the following message:

I ? SPUNK

I wonder which finishing school she attended?

I've spent nights alone in bothies which are purportedly haunted. Heard some strange noises, but refused to allow myself to believe they were anything without a normal scientific explanation.

I was petrified, but not of ghosts as that would be kinda silly

Yes of course. I'd be more scared of having police dogs set on me/being tasered etc for being in an unauthorised area.

Yep certainly would although I have never experienced paranormal activity or not that I'm aware of.

I have spent time (a couple of hours) in supposedly haunted houses and never felt any weirdness.

Done that. I've got a good story but it's too long to tell here just now.

Hats off to those who would/could.
Not sure I could. We're wired to be more wary in the dark.
Add in a few illogical thoughts and ears pricked for any noises and I reckon I wouldn't sleep too soundly!

And no, I don't believe in ghosts or nuffink.

So, you are afraid of "some" ghosts?

So, you are afraid of "some" ghosts?

Only the corporeal ones with ill intent.
Who obviously won't be ghosts.
And ghosts don't exist anyway.
But surely you recognise the quote?

Slept in a graveyard in a tent. Idiot mate kept on waking me up with 'did you hear that'. Other than a nervous mate yes. Why not? I live in a house where two wives of the last owner died, one 30ish cancer, the second 78 heart attack.

I spent three nights in a bad place in Morpeth for work. Suffice to say I didn't have a great sleep the first night and after found out it was the old jail house come hanging area right next to an old cholera hospital.

On a side note why is paranormal activity supposedly only at its peak during the night, do ghosts not work during the day?

Yes - I've explored hospitals, castles, factories etc at night. No problem. The dangers aren't ghosts, they're hidden drops, dodgy railings and collapsing floors.

There's theory that it's something to do with mould spores causing hallucinations (or something like that), so it makes sense to sleep elsewhere.
