Modfather? OMGFather!
No Style Council fans on STW?
The bits where they are on a rolling platform are distressing , why do they do that ?
The proper rolling bits were fine..
Dunno about cheese, I would say that it's more just "of it's time".
Funny, the bikes/clothes in the video take me back to some happy times when I first properly started cycling.
Fairly tongue-in-cheek though, no?
Wonder what the idea with the blipverts was. Very odd!
Ooh that is a bit crap. I think that's the first time I've seen that, and I own the single on vinyl. Nice touch from Weller when he just can't bring himself to dump the bike at the end and has to lay it down slowly.
The blipverts kind of work for me in the context of the lyrics and the time of release - given this was a 1984 single at the height of the Thatcher-US collaboration. And with the Vietnam war still in recent memory those images are relevant to the song imo
The flouncy, virginal dancers however I’m thinking are a tangential distraction which I can’t fathom.

I wouldn’t call myself a fan, but I do like The Style Council’s stuff. Rather underrated imho. My favourite of Weller’s music.
I,ll rise up now and declare myself an Internationalist.
Alexei Sayle was a confirmed roadie at the time so.

Great TSC tunes, barbed anti-Tory lyrics, but very dodgy videos!
Happy days!
Thanks overshoot.
...and a cheeky cover of Jo Smooth’s Promised Land.
TSC nail it I reckon, but it was the last of their output:
