Brian on the way, yellow wind warning. I’m keen not to. Bristol to nr Fishguard. Under a bit of pressure to make the drive.

It will be 25-35mph winds with gusts 20mph higher.
So it's not that dangerous but factor in other things like high sided vehicles, poor drivers, crap roads etc.
The Severn bridge might be closed too if they invoke the high winds protocols

Can’t see too many issues over and above the sort of storms we get at this time of year, WeatherProHD shows an amber alert, winds 38mph around Fishguard, 23-24mph around Bristol. Personally I’d be happy to do it, but then my job entails me driving in all winds and weathers.
Has to be your judgment call, based on your experience in bad weather.
The old M48 Severn Bridge is almost certainly going to be closed, the M4 bridge will probably only be closed to high-sided vehicles, it has wind shields for cars.

Yeah it’s West Wales not Mordor. Old crossing may close but it’s not a problem at the weekend. ‘New’ bridge sometimes closes for ice, but I don’t recall it closing for wind to car traffic.

Briton Ferry bridge might close that can cause delays.

If you're really worried and have to cross the Severn then set oit earlier and cross at Gloucester?

That said, Ophelia stopped me dead in my tracks (and then blew me sideways off my bicycle) along the River Clywd path on Monday. Had to hoof it for two miles, snacking on my own snot and pride along the way.

Drove down from Manchester last night and the M6 was apocalyptic - hailstones, accidents the odd car aquaplaning. Given the choice, I would not.

Yep. Because I haven’t seen my mum for ages and she’s getting on and I miss her.

Besides you’re only going from Bristol - I travel from Lancashire.

So long as the bridge is open get on with it.
