in a similar way to questions about disability on The Last Leg...

how many generations will it take for Irish travellers to lose their accent (yes I am currently watching dodgy TV)?

Travellers don't really mix with outsiders so I'd say if anything the accent will only get more pronounced with every passing generation which should be quite funny.

I knew a family from Scotland but the kids was born in London
and spoke in a London accent but when they spoken to there parents
they had to speak with an Scottish accent, so probably the answer is never

Lose it in what way? It's already pretty distinct from any native Irish accent, and seems stronger now than I remember it thirty or forty years ago. Just a closed society thing.

I lost 90% of my NornIrn accent within six months of moving to north east England at age 11 as neither me nor anyone at my school had a clue what we were going on about.

Some of the Irish traveller kids at my school, one family in particular were almost certainly speaking another language made up of a healthy dose of Pavee Gammon and accents so deep it was impossible to understand..

Some of the others though had hardly an accent at all..

It takes all sorts

Ah now. Come on, you were doing well. Don't let yourself down. You've done enough of that over the years.
