My word that was a huge jump from Katarina Johnson-Thompson. Stunning stuff.

Last night was better - Dina A.S. smashed it, and looked so relaxed during the process.

Weird champs, enjoying it despite the empty stadiums and zero atmosphere. Seems to be gradually filling over the week. Air conditioned arena = giant carbon footprint?

No - that's why there are so many empty seats.

Innit.

The "celebrity" piece that's on at the moment on drug cheat Linford Christie, is leaving a bad taste though.

Fantastic women's 400m !! But I do like this from the winners Wikipedia page. 😂😂

Born in Anambra State, Nigeria, Salwa Eid Naser was previously known as Ebelechukwu Agbapuonwu.[1][2] She began running at age eleven while at school and began to focus on the longer 400 m distance. She was the 2013 Schools Champion in Port Harcourt. In 2014, she switched allegiance to Bahrain for a very nice envelope full of money, and is therefore as Bahraini as Donald Trump is, converted to Islam[3] and changed her name

Can’t stand these plastic athletes. I know British/English competitors across a range of sports are culpable but it’s bobbins.

Fantastic performance, and I know nothings done until it's done, but aren't the BBC trying a bit hard to make this sound not a procession? 7 seconds difference in PB's, and she would have to beat her by 10?

Great win for KJT.

Just a shame it was in a stadium in the desert with a handful of people watching, most of whom were probably immigrant workers who'd been handed free tickets to boost the crowd.

Lord Coe should be ashamed. Still, there was probably no mention of the lack of spectators or the 40C heat when he read the huge paycheque from the Qataris.

However, at least he can be content that British Athletics has handled the Salazar scandal perfectly well and demonstrated that everything has been above board and that Mo Farah definitely couldn't have been cheating at all. Or at least there was no mention of that on the huge paycheque from Nike.

Anyway, enough negativity - the FIFA World Cup should be a great success in 2022. What could possibly go wrong?

Just about all the pundits were hinting at foul play with the Bahraini 400m winner, without saying it, sadly any big PB now is going to get such suspicion.

KJT was awesome, the lack of atmosphere was a bloody shame, as above.

Yes I was thinking the same although I am sure they will do all they can to avoid the same empty stadiums again.

You mean them carefully noting how she wasn't tired as she crossed the line & showed no sign of fatigue despite also running the mixed relay.

Also enjoyed it. Makes me think I should take the kids to a UK meet sometime - must be really impressive being able to really appreciate how fast /high/long in the flesh.

The Anniversary Games in London are brilliant and well worth visiting. The Diamond League meets are great as well and there's normally one in Birmingham. We go to both every year and love it.

Why do they keep refering to our athletes as being from Great Britain and Northern Ireland ? I thought NI was part of Great Britain .

No. NI is part of the UK but not part of Great Britain. They are different things.

Check your Passport. It's titled "United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland" which more or less explains it!

Gt Britain is the island made up of mainland Scotland, Wales and England - it’s a landmass rather than a nation state. Interestingly, the GB & NI title excludes all the Scottish islands...

We were fortunate to be staying with family about 10 minutes walk from the stadium used for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games last year and managed to get tickets on a night when KJT was competing (along with the mens' pole vault which was amazing to see in person). Our little girls loved it.

Anyone been watching tonight? Some good races, silvers for the GB male and female teams in the 4 x 100 relays.

As for the 1500m winner, Hassan, hmmmmmm 🤔

Men's shot was fab! Although the comment that this is around the same distances as they were tossing their orbs in 1990 does make you realise how juiced they were back then!
