Is there an easy way to get the components of a pdf'd floorplan editable? I am awaiting a dwg version but given the lack of response from the originator I don't think I'll be getting a response before next week and I need to get some possible adjustments out to to some people before then if possible.  It's nothing too difficult, just moving some desks/furniture around really and I want to be able to grab the items and move them around the plan.
I was sure I'd been able to do this using inkscape in the past, but that was a few versions ago and I can't seem to work out if this is possible in the current version.
Any clever stw'ers out there that can save me some time (as the current option is to cut and paste bits into a blank floorplan which will look crap and take ages to get right
Autocad 17 onwards can convert pdf to dwg very easily. Prior to that its a bodge
open it up in illustrator, should open, might need to replace fonts. Might open weird, might open ok.
There's a free website called pdfconverter or something like that that will convert a pdf to dwg if it was created from a dwg.
Its not perfect but does work.
If it doesn't open in Illustrator you can create a new document there, place the pdf and then flatten transparency getting an editable item. You may need very good Illustrator skills to get what you want though.
Open it in autocad and extract features. Yiu can send it to me if you want.
had forgot I had an autocad student account - which gives me 3 years of free access to their software
currently downloading that to see how I get on
thanks
So what you do is.
Attach the pdf.
Once its in click on the pdf and one of the options is to extract.
From memory. Dont have a pdf to hand.
Dont forget to scale.
hmm - when I import the pdf I just get the borders and text, none of the actual bits I want 🙂
Well at least that's all that is visible - there may very well be stuff hiding away somwhere . . .
Is the file a raster (bitmap) not a vector within the PDF? It could be either. If it is a raster it will be much trickier to do what you want with..
