I'm in my first year studying engineering at Cambridge and I'm trying to arrange a month's work experience over the summer. I've been unlucky so far, with a lot of places being too busy to take me, so I thought I might find some suggestions on here.
Unsurprisingly my particular interest is in sports engineering, although the Cambridge course is general for the first two years and covers everything from programming to fluid mechanics. At home in Kendal I fillet braze frames and manufacture my own carbon components. I'm also competent at using a lathe.
So, engineering firms around the Lakes that might be interested in taking an undergraduate for the summer - any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Not sports engineering in the lakes, but general engineering outside Cambridge if you get desperate.

Oh right, what is it you do? Ideally I'm going to try to find somewhere I can reach from home, but I'll certainly consider it. Thanks.

Ink jet printing. Can't offer much, more experimental/testing then engineering.

Thanks for the reply anyway. It's quite tricky finding places, so I'll bear it in mind. Cheers.

Have you tried places like Cambridge Consultants, CSR etc around Cambridge?

M-Sport in Cockermouth, do lots of stuff locally and seem to have a big community involvement.

(not got anything to do with them but used to be local)

Footflaps, I hadn't actually considered companies around Cambridge. I'm hoping I can get back to the hills in the summer, but it would be an option to stay in Cambridge. Cheers Mike, they're next on my list! Not bikes, but I think there's some very interesting stuff goes on over there. I'll see if they have any space.
