Using Wordpress with 2013 theme just to enter content, with a view to then change the theme later. I am building a simple brochure website, with 9 navbuttons along the top, each clickable then having text and image based content. Not using it as a blog.

I want a static home page, but the problem is that I have to assign a 'page' to that and that page has to have a title, which it then displays as both a button and a text title when the home page displays.

Happy to have the word 'Home' as a button, but is there anyway to have it just showing information, or a picture, instead of the word 'Home' in the body of the page?

Confusing...

I'm sure you can do this if you create custom menu in the appearances tab rather than relying on wordpress to build the menu for you by default from the pages - this is probably a point at which choosing your theme is more important, because some themes will or won't have the same settings for menu's.

My solution is to only have one category of blog post appear on the front page and then use a theme that doesn't look like a blog. This is especially easy if you don't want to use the blog features anywhere else on the site.
