Hi all,
I am new to wordpress and have been asked to update a very small charity website.
Only about 8 static pages along with plugins to display Instagram and YouTube.
Finding reasonable free themes is not too bad but struggling with decent plugins to make the menu fixed and nice looking Instagram and yt.
Any recommendations please.
Yes, get the charity to cough up £50 for a paid theme package or get prepared to dig into the misery of Wordpress.
I have a lot of experience with blog-style CMS and this was the most efficient use of my time.
Never used Wordpress, bit I use Bootstrap and it saves so much effort over a full DIY design.
Apparently there are Bootstrap plug ins for Wordpress:

You could go down the paid route but for what you suggest you may need you don’t need plugins, and Wordpress 2023 theme works well for 8 pages or 800 out the box.
There is a native code block for YouTube and instagram. And menus can be placed anywhere in a page.
Generally a fairly good idea to limit the number of plugins you use.
For 8 pages? I'd recommend just writing a static website and doing it that way. Using wordpress for 8 pages is massive overkill.
Otherwise, like sparksmcguff says you can do it all with the default theme and code blocks. Also it's a very good idea to use as few plugins as humanly possible.
