Anyone recommend any specific companies, I'm near Winchester if that's relevant, as Google gives way too much choice. From people who had/have a cabin any obvious things to look out for when getting quotes etc?

BTW Looking for a company that can do the whole thing from planning to installing.

Bourne builidings in Farnham have a massive range on display including Charnwood log cabins. They did a full installation for us a while back. Might be worth giving them a call.

Dunster house. It arrives flat packed and takes a day or 2 to but together. You'll save thousands this way and its simple to install.

I've bought several for my place and for others from Stable Structures: http://www.fencingcentre.co.uk/all-garden-buildings.asp
Near you too - Matt at the Hurn (New Forest) display area worth speaking to and visiting. They have a place in Cadnam too I think but not been there. Most of their stuff is from Estonia I think, been very pleased with their service (and negotiable prices) for both builds where I have done it from a kit (much cheaper) or have got them to do the whole thing.

I was going to recommend what redstripe recommended*

*I think I have just figured out who redstripe is and the reference is to beer

I'm going through this at the moment although specifically for a garden office. Dunster House got good mentions on here but take a look at Trust Pilot before you press go with them! Their sales technique was awful and run via a call centre focussed on commission rather than helping!

I'm using "The Garden Office .co .uk" Not cheap but very good to deal with and are honest as to what they do best e.g. if you have a local spark, they encourage that rather than upsell their own expensive option. They focus on the structures.

Or you could always build one yourself. This is in Southampton and built by me

I've been sussed out WCA...
Me and friend built the one below (4 by 5m) in a long weekend from a kit from Stable Structures, all straightforward enough:

we insulated the floor and roof as well. I have been told about dubious practices by Dunster House too, preferred to stay local and see what you are actually getting first.

Thanks all for the info, I want to use someone local really and am very adverse to high pressure sales so Dunster House sound like a no.

Leftyboy we're a bit East of you and used a Brighton based company. They were terrific. I will ask Mrs in the morning if she remembers the company.
