Aside from getting the nailgun out, how can I keep these fat bastards out my garden?
Aside from eating all the little birds grub, they trample all over everything.
Proper obnoxious way of looking at me as well when I shoo it off. Bugger.
We have birds of prey near where I live, and pigeons in our garden regularly.
Once every year or so you see the remains of a pigeon in our garden...normally just a circle of grey feathers. Hawk food!
So now I just see bird seed as feeding rare birds of prey by proxy.
Why is the food only for the "little birds" ?
And what do you mean that they "trample all over everything" ? How big are they ? What damage are they causing, with their presumably oversize feet ?
cf - do you live in a house in a model village?
Get an airgun, they're delicious.

Although the iron content may be beneficial, I find the oily woody aftertaste a bit much. They can be very very tough too.
I wouldn't mind if they just had a little nibble of the food, but they hoover everything.
Crushes all my herbs diggin about, but thats probably my poor horticultural skills.
Thanks IanMunro...it's this or a cat.
We have similar issues, they're properly greedy. The problem is we also have next doors racing pigeons to deal with too. Recently had to re-seed the lawn with grass, 4 days later there's not a grass seed to see but there's two very fat pigeons.

move south. problem solved 😉
Leave them be, love the sound of wood pigeons.
2nd the free food approach.
Airgun....then scoop/cut off the two breasts and pan fry them....as said above, delicious....one of my favourite meats.
Get a spaniel, nothing with a feather is allowed in the garden with ours out there.
On a serious note, and despite wood pigeon being a legal quarry species for air rifles, you can still be prosecuted for shooting them in your own garden (or any other legal quarry)...and people have been.

If they are landing in your garden to feed whilst the clock is ticking away, instead of going straight into their loft, then they are completely useless as racing pigeons, and I'm extremely surprised that they haven't had their necks wrung - it can't be long now.
Although I suspect that you're probably being hysterical and they don't actually land in your garden. In well over 20 years of keeping pigeons I cannot recall a single incident where one of my pigeons has landed in next door's garden, unless they were sick/weak. Nothing which they might find in a garden can match the food I give them.
It's back...
How can they fly, they're so effin fat?
Antiacid tablets, makes em explode(allegedly !!)

On what grounds? (serious question)
Searing hot pan, a little sesame oil, fry the breasts up. Slice and serve over a fresh salad.
Nom. Nom. Nom.

Shoot the fat ba*tards
Bird food on the ground to bring them in then,
Crack you got it!
If no one knows you are shooting them you won't get caught!
Oh and use a gun with a suppressor or moderator fitted!
Shoot the fat ba*tards
I wonder how someone with that attitude manages to appreciate the endless joys of a single track bike ride through woodland, as Mother Nature's wondrous magic is teased and cajoled from her loving bosom.
Sorry entitled to my opinion and is that what forums are for, to voice them?
