I thought there were not enough threads on woodburners at the moment. Probably a daft idea but hear me out - anyone else thought about this? I want to a) heat my van in the winter, and b) cook a roast dinner. Long term van living makes frying everything on a petrol stove a bit monotonous.
The plan would be to use a medium size calor gas bottle, with a door for loading wood, a built in box for cooking, trapdoor on the bottom to release ash, and maybe a hot plate on top. Would need legs to keep it off the floor, and probably a heat proof mat to stand on. Chimney would go through an open window with suitable ceramic coupler. I know a friendly welder who can do all this.
Good idea, or will it result in a smokey firey mess?

had one in a caravan, box shape, not huge, but put out some serious heat, too much sometimes, had to have the door open, and that was in suffolk coast mid winter -8 outside. Don't see much problem, apart from regulating 'oven 'temp- but give it a whirl..
