Evening guys,

I've been looking at the...

Firefox 5
Stockton 4
Stockton 5
Norvik 5
Tiger clean burn 5

Such a minefield, any of these come STW recommended?

Any reason not to get multifuel? many of the above come in wood only flavour too.

The room needs around 5kw for its size and i'm in a smoke controlled area.

Have you looked at the Morso range? We have their Squirrel and love it, just wish the weather would get properly cold so I can crank it up.

Burley Debdale is relatively inexpensive and is a really fantastic stove.
Rated 4KW but puts out more in reality.

Aarrow stoves generally give a good bang for buck too.

Rented a house witha morso squirell this weekend . A 1430 ?? Maybe. the smallest one anyway. Nice looker , very warm

But too small. A full size cut and split log from my stash as delivered from my supplier had to go in the stove at 45 degrees.

Also for the op Multifuel versions of most stoves reduce the fire basket size usually.

For the smaller room, Silverdale 5 SE under £400 delivered to Scotland. Good for a 30s house as matched styling. Very pleased with ours.

I've got a Firefox 5 and a Stockton 8hb, both good fires at different budget levels.

The Stockton is large so I've left it as a multifuel stove, but the Firefox is a lot smaller and I've got the wood burning kit fitted.

We have a Stockton 5 multi-fuel and have used coal and wood on it. Very happy with it, easy to control and burns well. Only downside with multi-fuel is they're a few % less efficient than the wood only version (although you can convert between the two if you buy a kit).

Just after fitting:

Two Hunter Hawks here (4 I think, and a 3 in the shed).
Perfectly good stoves, run well, usually easy to light.

Morso Badger in the bigger room, it's really very good - flipping easy to light, great heat.

Just pulling apart the opening in our new house, but hopping it will take a Burley 5kw, very efficient and big firebox for its size.

Firewarm 4 here.
Bought direct from the lad who fitted the flue etc. to quote him, " I fit them because they're good quality and I get no comeback from them"
Irish make I believe.

Thanks guys, my local stove place stocks the Firefox 5 so nice to know its well received. I may go for the wood burning for extra capacity and efficiency.

Which firefox version do you guys have, wood or multi?

Also looking at the Morso Squirrel which gets the most awards on stove review, albeit around £300 more.

May I add THIS to the mix?

Very pleased with ours, really like the large viewing window.
Our is multifuel but as we had the basic liner fitted we just burn logs to be on the safe side even though the installer said it would be ok to.

Why anyone would want to buy a stove that cracks the top and back panel is beyond me. Obviously YMMV.

Charnwood C4 is solid stove, made on the isle of wight. I have one fitted in our front room.

You can run it with an external air source too. Multi option available.

Not the cheapest option, but very well made, and smokeless rated.

Where are you based?

Firefox 5 here...we burned exclusively wood the first winter so this year bought the woodburning kit which increased the stove capacity by lots.

Not much info on the woodburning kit so I started a thread and updated it once I got my hands on the kit...

http://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/firefox-5-multifuel-anyone-bought-the-woodburning-kit

We also considered a Carron 4.7kw as the local shop said they were great, I liked them as they have a big window, nice wide firebox for longer logs and they are available in various enamelled colours which makes it easy to wipe off soot/ash/dust. Wife preferred the Firefox 5 and I've got no regrets in going for it.

We have a Morso in the front room and a Westfire in the back. The Westfire was cheaper, easier to light and chucks out a load more heat despite them both being rated the same / very similar.
