Hey guys I've got a 8ft by 20ft sheperds hut that has a little wood burning stove to go in. We have the stove (bought it new for £300) and we are looking for a installer who can buy the flue materials and install it and sign it off.

We've been struggling to find people and just been quoted £900 based on £500 parts for the flue bits and sealing into the roof and £300 on labour..

is that right or am I right in thinking that seems like a lot of money for flue bits and an overkill on installation time?

Sign what off? It's not a house.

Do it yourself. All the regs are online and they're not difficult to grasp. Bits shouldn't be more than £300.

Can't help with the labour but £300 sounds a lot if it's single storey - I'm looking for prices myself for the same thing so we can compare notes!
Get the twin wall flue off ebay though - if you can find some nearby.

(BTW, £500 + £300 = £800)

Flu costs are always more than you expect, we paid around £100 per meter.

More importantly though, you have a shepards hut? Need pictures, now.

You're also looking to get this done at the wrong time of year. Everyone who is anyone that wants to have that perfect Xmas with their brand new wood stove are hassling installers all over the country. My BIL has three teams of fitters on 6 day weeks' and has done since mid-August and will do until at least end of Jan. He's finding that even quoting stupidly high pricing isn't deterring the desires of the inhabitants of leafy Surrey and Hampshire, for their ultimate Eco Xmas.

Look around for an installer in May or June and you may find its cheaper.

Just go to the local flue suppliers and haggle, I found the price online and went to the local suppliers and was quoted retail but it soon changed to normal prices when I said I was paying cash and was fully aware it would be a trade sale (can't take it back) then fit it yourself it's not hard just read regulations which are all over the net just search J regs stove. We were quotes £900 just for the flue and it cost all of about £250 and a cake for a mate to go on the roof and drop the liner down.
