I keep seeing videos of extremely attractive women using wobble boards on Instagram.
Do I need one? Will it make me look this hot?
My neighbour has one, she challenged me to have a go and was amazed how easy I found it.
She had failed to notice the slackline in the garden which I use most days.....
THought this thread would contain a panting Rolf Harris.
Is disappoint.
I had one of these years ago, was quite hard to use and occasionally fired you off the end...

I made a load of them for family xmas gifts one year.
Plywood, walnut veneer, grip tape, and a short length of plastic pipe with inner tube around it for the roller.
I'm already hot mind.

I was at the London Boat Show early 2000s and a stand had those on as training devices for kite surfers/windsurfers.
Our stand was a few feet away. In one afternoon I saw half a dozen broken wrists and twisted knees. Great fun.
Almost certain injury would result if I tried one of those!
Have enough difficulty standing on the Decathlon inflatable rubber disc thing I have.
I've still got one of those Vew-Do boards. Dug it out over lockdown, been using it quite a bit. Good for core strength.
...easiest thing to improvise with a bit of ply and a (can't remember now what I used. Dumbbell at one point, some piping?) when I thought it would help my surfing. Which it really didn't, but a good thing to entertain when you've had a few drinks. (Re hottness, that all depends on how you feel about middleaged blokes with expressions of intense concentration.)
If you’re trying one for the first time do it on a carpet rather than a hard surface. Slows things down and makes it much easier.
Hang on, I thought wobble boards were circular with half a ball underneath so you could strengthen your ankles? What on earth are these new fangled contraptions?
Funny,I always thought a wobble board was one of these.

I used one to build up some strength after dislocating my ankle.
fasthaggiss that is exactly what I meant

yep, if you kept your feet at each end, outside the stops its quite safe, if you move one foot in a bit or try and walk on it then it can easily launch you off it at some speed......
I have one, I used it for Proprioception work, as well as pushup and squats (although I generally fall on my arse when doing squats on it.
I play with the slack line mainly because I reckon its good for ankle stability and balance (which deteriorates with age). It's also good to move in something other than the Sagital plane..
Means the next time I'm running over a boulder field in the Lakes jumping from rock to rock, I'm less likely to cock up....
We have one of the round ones. My kids are pretty good at it. After the adults got on it and played a bit, we found the youngest standing motionless on it watching TV, looking around, bending down etc all without even a wobble.
I have some contemplations on making a cycling version.
Idea is to mount stem & handlebars above a square ply baseboard and then balance on that with something like a basketball underneath.
I've got one. It's a disc of MDF with a small knob of wood underneath with a spherical end. The contact area is very small & there is virtually no resistance or damping to the motion. It's bloody hard to use.
I should have got one of the ones (pictured above) with a squidgy blob underneath to make it a bit easier.

Been a long time in lockdown.....pics? 😎

My wife used to teach aerobics classes on them. Great workout. Try skipping and gripping one between your feet. Pro tip: use a longer skipping rope than usual.
These LoLo Balls are what we used.

There are a few versions available to buy. eg Togu, about £300. https://www.bike-balance-board.de/
Or from Sender, £100. https://sender-ramps.com/collections/mtb-training/products/sender-balance

I made one a year or so ago, plywood, griptape & the cardboard tube from a roll of carpet.
Great fun & a good workout if you can squat or crouch on it.

I fancy making one too...
I wanted to make one a few times but could not find something suitably roun
I got one from (decathlon?) but its not very round-so its too easy
One of my fave insanely dangerous exercise vids
Oh... so it's been done before then. At least there is proof that it works.
I've set aside some old handlebars, stem, steerer tube offcut, scaffold pole, & base plate. Just need to wait a few more months/years before this rises to top of todo list.
Nino Schurter uses one while juggling while he rests between sets in the gym!
