Wife and I have separated, as is the fashion on stw it feels. I've been bought out of the mortgage and need to sign an ID1 form and have it witnessed by a solicitor to transfer any equity owed.

Anybody been in a similar situation and what did it cost? Costs seem to hover around the £100+ mark.

Cheers

ID1 is more than "witness by a solicitor". IIRC it requires a registered conveyancer to confirm proof of identify of the parties as well as register the documentation. This is to prevent fraud in the land registry. The fee reflects that. It can be done cheaper but it's a hassle.
