I am trying to get 3g broadband on the 3 network at home at the moment. Trouble is in my area the signal is only 1 bar, although I am covered. I have read on the 3 website that it is possible to boost the signal using the 3g dongle into a wireless router, which I already have from when I was online with Tiscali. Does anyone know how this is done exactly ?
This is what the 3 homepage says

The FAQ doesn't say that though. What they suggest is finding the best place in your house for 3G coverage, and siting the dongle and wireless router there. Your router will need a USB connection though, and you'll need power to the router. You then connect your PCs into the router wirelessly.
Remember you can use a USB cable of at least a few metres before signal degradation requires a powered repeater, so you may find that you have to mount your dongle in the attic and run a wire from there to the router and then onto power.
Can't you just get wired broadband instead - it's a hell of a lot cheaper and doesn't have download limits?
It means by buying the Huawei D100 Router that you plug your 3g dongle into.
