My friend has some AKG451 headphones, previously recommended on here and very good.
I am after something similar but wonder if there are any headphones that have bluetooth allowing them to be used with computers/ipads etc but then also have a wire for the times when you need to plug them in ipod, on a plane, batteries run out etc.
Had a look at AKG and the wireless bluetooth ones K830BT don't have a with wire option:
Oh and to be extra demanding I'd rather they weren't huge and could be relatively portable (folding?)
Any suggestions appreciated.
I have some Sennheiser MM450s which can do the wire/no wire thing and have active noise cancelling
A slightly cheaper option without the noise cancelling are these - http://www.petertyson.co.uk/ebuttonz/ebz_product_pages/sennheiser_px360_bt.shtml
gofasterstripes - destroyed by rabbits... you have to explain that!
geoffj - Those look pretty good, and just about within the price budget I would imagine. Do you think you can remove the wire when used in bluetooth mode? Have to admit the more expensive MM540s look a lot better size wise though. You pays your money I guess,
On mine, the wire just plugs in when required, it's just a standard double male ended 3.5mm phono cable.
I've been pleased with mine, especially for use on the plane.
Parrot Zik headphones are Bluetooth and have a wire also. Noise cancelling too.
I had a set, they were OK but ultimately, heavy and hot so. I sold them. They aren't cheap though, IRO£240. There's an IPhone app for them and you can't week their sound, which I was always doing so I mustn't have been totally happy with their quality
Much preferring the simplicity and ultimate quality of the shure 425's that replaced the Zik's
Having looked them up I can confirm Parrots and Shures are well beyond the budget! To be honest I doubt I have the ears to notice the difference from something a lot cheaper.
So Sennheiser MM450s shaping up to the be the lead contender.
If you could see what was snoring at my feet, you'd not need further clarification on the "destroyed by rabbits" front...
Plantronics BackbeatPro

Been using them for the last week, very good so far. Lots of good reviews coming through online as well.
I have a set of the Plantronics Backbea, they are very good, perfect for running and cycling with bluetooth functionality. You can also pause, skip track and adjust volume on the earpiece itself. The battery time is also very good at around 6 hours. They are also very comfortable and lightweight.
Bludio R+ They are huge but they fold. First pair of 'huge' headphones I've owned and whilst not much cop for anything athletic I have been won over by how well they sound and comfortable they are to wear. Never used in corded mode to be honest because you get so long between charges (something like 18hrs but to be honestI don't think I've ever had them flat) in bluetooth mode it's never been an issue.
I like the look of the Backbeats, they're a bit outside my budget at the mo', though.
Being able to plug my phone in to keep it charged while listening to 6Music, or whatever, with no wires, and being able to cut out ambient sound at will would be very handy at times.
I used to do quite a lot of work for Plantronics back in the day, their main office is, or used to be, in Royal Wootton Bassett.
Good kit.
