Planning on putting some lighting on the ceiling of our summerhouse and cant decide the best and neatest route for the cable from the CU in the bottom corner of the back wall to the top center of the apex on the side wall. Up the corner on the back would make sence but then it would need to go past 2 rafters. Maybe drill through them or something else?

vertically upwards is the norm to prevent folk drilling thru it.

Yes, but once up it need to go along to the middle of the side wall, so past 2 rafters. How do I route it past them?

You drill a route using a spade bit in the middle of the rafters to ensure anyone nailing or screwing from the top or bottom dont hit the cable. Assuming your joists are say 8" deep or more then a normal length screw/nail should not reach it.

8" deep joists in a summerhouse?  Is there an interior covering or just a single skin?

Just a single skin as far as i can tell. The picture above makes sense but doesnt show rafters. I can either go from the ceiling under the rafters and back to the ceiling. Or drill through the rafters to keep the wire flush to the ceiling.

drill thru the rafters but not flush with the ceiling as surfer says - also if the cable will be exposed put it in conduit of some sort especially important where it goes up the wall

Out the back of the board to outside, conduit run to the best place to go back in for the neatest way from the wall/roof corner to the apex

If the summerhouse is wooden, leave plenty of length for wood expansion/contraction through the seasons.

Don't ask me how I know....

Down, under the floor and back up?
Has the bonus that water can't run in along the conduit, but obvs depends on access
