Balls POC definitely out for us on Sat. I fear our run of defeats isn't going to end this weekend.

Ireland team for SA:

15 – Simon Zebo (Cork Constitution/Munster/1)
14 – Tommy Bowe (Belfast Harlequins/Ulster/49)
13 – Keith Earls (Young Munster/Munster/32)
12 – Gordon D'Arcy (Lansdowne/Leinster/69)
11 – Andrew Trimble (Ballymena/Ulster/48)
10 – Jonathan Sexton (St.Mary’s College/Leinster/32)
9 – Conor Murray (Garryowen/Munster/12)

1 – Cian Healy (Clontarf/Leinster/33)
2 – Richardt Strauss (Old Wesley/Leinster)*
3 – Mike Ross (Clontarf/Leinster/22)
4 – Donnacha Ryan (Shannon/Munster/21)
5 – Mike McCarthy (Buccaneers/Connacht/4)
6 – Peter O'Mahony (Cork Constitution/Munster/7)
7 – Chris Henry (Malone/Ulster/2)
8 – Jamie Heaslip (Naas/Leinster/50) Captain

Replacements:
16 – Sean Cronin (St. Mary’s College/Leinster/21)
17 – David Kilcoyne (UL Bohemians/Munster)*
18 – Michael Bent (Leinster)*
19 – Donncha O'Callaghan (Cork Constitution/Munster/88)
20 – Iain Henderson (Queens University/Ulster)*
21 – Eoin Reddan (Lansdowne/Leinster/45)
22 – Ronan O'Gara (Cork Constitution/Munster/124)
23 – Fergus McFadden (Old Belvedere/Leinster/14)

Steady Deccie has excelled again. DOC and ROG shouldn't be anywhere near this team, time to get a few younger players in. Glad to see Henry getting a start at 7 as we have never really replaced David Wallace and he has been in great form for Ulster.

DOC's solid on the bench, but I agree re ROG. Time for new players, and as for his tackling, the less said the better!

I have to disagree on DOC, he hangs around on the wing, thinking he playing a 15 man game, looking disinterested and giving away too many penalties.

I'm also not keen on bringing in the chap Bent from NZ, fair enough his Granny or something is Irish but he hasn't even played a game in Ireland. What type of message does that send to young Irish players.

He is a very good attacking winger but hasn't even played FB for Munster so it's certainly a gamble. SA are bound to kick and press all day long so I hope he can withstand it.

I rate Zebo highly as a winger but its a big ask to play 15 when not that experienced. I might have thought Bowe would be a better bet. That whole Irish team looks a bit second rate to me.

All Black team to play Scotland:
15 Israel Dagg, 14 Cory Jane, 13 Ben Smith, 12 Tamati Ellison, 11 Julian Savea, 10 Daniel Carter, 9 Piri Weepu, 8 Victor Vito, 7 Richie McCaw (captain), 6 Adam Thomson, 5 Sam Whitelock, 4 Luke Romano, 3 Owen Franks, 2 Andrew Hore, 1 Wyatt Crockett.

Reserves: Dane Coles, Tony Woodcock, Ben Franks, Ali Williams, Sam Cane, Tawera Kerr-Barlow, Beauden Barrett, Ma'a Nonu.

10 changes from their last fixture. Guess they don't like to draw games.

Thought McCaw was having a rest, that looks like a strong outfit and lots on the bench as well, wonder what TJ thinks of that?

@AA - I guess that Bowe and Zebo can rotate if needs be, according to the Irish press Zebo has the best boot of the three and that is why he was selected.

Can't see anything other than a big win for the All Blacks on Sun, that bench is very strong.

Wyatt Crockett sounds like he should be in a Western movie

Sheesh....Obviously have targeted Scotland as the danger team, since we are the only home nation to beat any of the SH this year. Can't blame them really, can you?

Predictions anyone?

I will go

England to win by more than 12 points
SA to win by less than 10 points
Wales to win by less than 7 points
NZ to win by more than 10 points (but Scotland to score which is almost the same as a win in Edinburgh this season)

England by less than that. 5-10 only
SA should stroll it, sadly. 20+
Wales by less than 7 I agree with.
NZ by more than 30. But yes, Scotland will score. A penalty.

What? looking at Scotlands fantastic record v NZ i just don't see where you get victory by more than 30 😉

Will be making sure hipflask is brimmed

•2010: Scotland 3-49 NZ
•2008: Scotland 6-32 NZ
•2007 (WC): Scotland 0-40 NZ
•2005: Scotland 10-29 NZ
•2001: Scotland 6-37 NZ

I think Ireland will struggle without some key players but not that badly.

Scotchland and Ireland to recieve a thorough kicking. Wales to sneak by with a couple of late tries. Englandshire to hammer Fiji and be back on the top of the world.

Argentina look like the coming force in world rugby, though. Which I suppose is good to see.

Wales utterly clueless. Really don't think Howley is a suitable sub for Gatland, seems to pick the same players, regardless of form. Warburton was anonymous, Priestland inept. Wish I I hadn't forked out 75 quid for the All Blacks game now.......

Wales lacked commitment at the breakdown. Didn't compete we'll enough and ended up playing off the back foot. Argentina took the game to them and they had no answer. So disappointing. Had I paid to watch that, I'd want my money back.

Sloppy England showing a lot of new caps and lack of cohesion, not a bad result at all!

Yeah I too thought that Warburton was awful (but then I just think that he's always anonymous. 1/2p was the stand out welsh player for me. Impressive from the Argie's which is good to see, i Can't quite believe they beat Wales by so much though, their pack doesn't look massively heavyweight and they throw a huge number of wayward passes.

England fav for 6 nations? Hell no, we're rubbish. We know we play badly, theres very little hope that it'll suddenly come good and we will beat the SH 3, but we can be pleased about a good result.

Bet by Tuesday the Wrlsh are the best team in the work again (I love this attitude!)

All blacks SA game looks alright as well

Just back from Dublin, very disappointed with the result SA were there for the beating, however I'm very positive about the future cause we have some very good young players coming through. Healy, Henry and Darcy were the pick of the Irish. Zebo was very poor at full back.

This will appear a post to antagonise but it is not intended to do so.

Wales have looked in recent years to be moving in the right way with some good physical backs looked after by a decent set of forwards. How can they play so badly where they only managed to get into the Pumas 22 twice in the whole 80 mins. I've not seen the game but read reports, obviously the pumas are a decent side these days and will only get better with their regular internationals now.

So many people seem to focus on Wales being better than England and their players being better than their English counterparts that they lose sight of the whole picture? This could also be levelled at Scotland, possibly not so much Ireland. Is it due to Irelands players having more exposure at european rugby or is it something lacking from the other nations.

I must confess to a little cheer at the Welsh result, but would love to see them step up and step up a level as they can be a great team to watch. I just find it hard when they seem to focus on the beating england bit a bit too much. I dare say the players are possibly not as bad as their fans but does it rub off on them?

**** me felt like crying watching Wales yesterday WTF!!!??? fair play to argentina, wales only breaking into their 22 twice in the 80 mins!!!

i think a combinatioin of howley and warburton is the problem.... does warburton actually speak or shout during a game? howley is out of his depth get gatland back now! then again you have to blame the players way to flat, no vision yet again from some - priestland didnt see the one overlap (AGAIN!) get bigger on atleast he's got some bollox, if the game plan aint working just go for it!

roberts hurry up and **** off to france and dont bother coming back if called up for internationals, one trick pony.

defence was ok but im dreading samoa not even thinking about nz and oz!!

then again what do i know, back to the old days unless we turn it round.

Problem with Wales is that people like Roberts cannot be bothered when playing for their regions as the teams are shite and uncompetitive but due to a chronic lack of strength in depth they still get picked for wales. This is compunded by team wales having so much power over the regions. So Wales pick a load of quality players who are playing shit and some shite players. The potential Lions cant be arsed for their clubs and will look to peak around six nations time safe in the knowledge they are undroppable for club or country. Added to this general malaise is the Fact that Howley is head coach who isnt up to the job.

So, after the first week, what can we gather?

England looked OK, but against not exactly stunning oposition.
Wales looked awful. No, beyond awful. Utter pish.
France? Well, Australia weren't on form, but sounds like France were rather clinical.
Ireland? Not too bad, but just lacking that last move/pass etc.
Scotland? Brave performance, some nice stuff (Only saw the second half), but still a step or three behind the SH teams overall.
Argetina? Always like the way they play the game, and they just seem to be improving year on year. Good for them!
SA? Scrappy, but effective. A win's a win.
NZ? Well, as good as ever, really. Impressive.

Anyone got a good round up of all the other international scores this weekend? Italy were playing Tonga, I think. And more besides.

Yep I'd agree with that Flashy....I really didn't rate either Ireland or SA though. I thought that SA looked like they were there for the taking but Ireland didn't really look capable of scoring. Fiji were dire so hard to judge England. The All Blacks didn't look too bad!

Three fricking tries from giving away the humping ball! Jeez...Still scoring three tries in any game for us,let alone the A-B's is a step in the right direction.

On a serious note, only game I watched was the Scotland one. Jury still out on McVisser, he was awol on defence a lot.

I was impressed with the Cross try, all to often Scotland have conspired to knock on, turnover the ball etc in a similar position.

Defence was poor which is annoying because in the past we have defended well but never looked like scoring yesterday was the opposite. Maybe one day we will put a full performance together.

Edit: I agree re Visser, i think he is possibly the best finisher in the UK at present but by no means the best winger. However i don't think Scotland can leave him out with our scoring record.

I think McVisser should certainly be in the scotland team but for such a big lad he doesnt seem to punch his weight either in defence or carrying into contact. He's as big as Roberts or North but doesnt use the size as well

Well AA; on the way your boys played on Saturday that will be an achievement. Serves them right mind,if as you were saying just 12 short months ago, Warburton is Lions skipper material, why not play him... 😈

McVisser is in the press up here saying what a shock that was after playing Fiji and Samoa. Describes how first time he got the ball he got the door closed on him by large AB forward. That was a step above anything he has played. When he first arrived over here he was gash, he has done whatever he has needed to step up to the next level I think he will fit the bill nicely.

Smiley added to show tongue firmly in cheek 🙂

I think I said earlier in this thread (or could have been the last one with TJ) that I'd wait to see what McVisser did when faced with international opposition. Jury is still out (as it would be for any first cap - won't write him off yet!)

Looking forward to next weekend already!
