Predictions for this weekend's 6N?

Wales by 2 scores
England by 2 scores
Scotland by 1 score

POSTED 1 DAY AGO #

Not a bad bunch of guesses! OK, so Wales won by 3 scores and Ireland should have won today... 8)

Scotland won

Barns is still a cock. To total f. Throbbing male appendage. Did William Wallace bugger his great great x 30 gran?

The ref mike should be switched off when Barnes is officiating. He seems to love the sound of his own voice.

Still, however much I have a dislike of Barnes, he's nowhere near as bad as the Craig Joubert show!

St André shot himself in the foot when he took off FTD. Should had left him on and put his beloved Freddy in at SH. Bin that idea, they would have won if he did that.

FWIW, FTD can't kick for toffee. The honours at Montpellier go to Paillauge (who will be getting his first French cap in the next 12 months if there is any justice) and Bustos Moyano.

PSA's decisions yesterday were baffling. At least he left Picamoles on the pitch.

As for the refereeing, bring back Spreaders! 😀

Missed the match today but once again love the unpredictability of the 6N. More fun to watch these days.

So much for Ireland and France being potential winners and then P3W1 the pair?
So much for early momentum - Wales blow that idea our of the water? Or do England trump them?
So much for experience - England ditto ( 😉 )

All brewing up for a classic in Cardiff!!

Very good programme indeed. The stuff about G levels was very interesting especially when Bowe popped his knee it was recorded @ 9.1g! The amount of food the boy had to eat was unreal as well. Could have watched it for hours...

I cringed when the Ulster physio was saying about the 13G leg break tackle!

Yes Tom. Tommy was at Dublin Uni and they were comparing tackle forces to car crashes etc. An international tackle at pace is the equivalent to being hit by a car travelling at 30-40 kmph.

No shock there then. The same number of subway meals in his lunch box as it Lewis Smith's. Among all the flak directed in various industries - bankers, estate agents, politicians - how do advertisers get away with blatant lies. I think the sponsored individuals need to look at/inside themselves too!! Sorry for the hijack mini-rant!

We want to know if Duckman made it out of Bennet's and got to his inspection on time. Was it the full monty or a Quipe one?

Twas the full Monty, hangovers and 44yo = bad,bad mix. Now up to my nuts in an inspection. Who is Ritchie going to? Does this mean Sale running up the flag and cutting costs for next year?
edit, France? good; that will give him a harder edge.

Going to Castres apparently.
Didnt seem committed and to my untrained eye didnt appear too effective. Probably a lot to do with the setup at Sale and the fact that they [s]are[/s] were struggling. The front line seems a bit stronger now and Dimes is a better director of Rugby than CEO so hopefully he stays in that position.
More worried that we have also lost Myall who is first choice and I understand Vernon is off to Glasgow! Maybe Powell can get back on the bench behind Gaskell at No8

A couple of folk had mentioned to me that Vernon was wanted back within the Scotland set up. I would agree with your view on Grey. He has seen like a big donkey at Sale, £300,000 from Sale plus at least another £80k a year from playing all 5 games in the 6N. Nice work if you can get it!

Pigface, I have waited for Sale to suddenly start crushing teams with their array of Gallacticos flicking passes between their legs...Instead they are awful,I have seen a few of their games and wonder how a team so good on paper can be so dire on grass (sorry surfer) Also a worry for them is how Welsh scrap for every point.
Tbh If Sale go down Oxford Welsh will next season, but playing in prem gives you a set up and mindset that is worth 10 points in championship, two seasons in prem will safeguard Welsh for a few years.

"Considerable points deduction and probable fine" apparently, I don't believe that they can afford either. Did they want to stay up a little too much?

He's played 13 games. 11 starts and 2 subs. I would rather Sale stayed up by what they do on the pitch but we were docked a couple of seasons ago for fielding an ineligible player, albeit only a point or two.
I honestly think they are the weakest side but sad if this decides it.

You don't play an unregistered player for 11 games on purpose, amateur admin methinks. It would be a shame if this settled a very interesting table at both ends.

It turns out that it was LW who told the RFU, that ought to count in their favour, added to the fact that the precedent is a single point, I think it's still on their hands to stay up

They were going down anyway.
Sale showed last week that they're the better team.
It won't effect the order in the table, just the gap at the bottom.

Oh dear, Steve Walsh for Cardiff. A_A, you might as well start celebrating your 6N now! How big was that brown envelope?? (For clarity, only the second sentence is a joke!) 😉

Well, Wales have had Poite the Tw[s]i[/s]t for two games (why twice??), so it only feels right that they have someone who hates England!

Anyway Wales have to beat Scotland yet before thinking about beating England for the championship.

Case history suggests that the Exiles could be docked up to two points per match that Keats played in while ineligible, but the club are likely to have strong grounds for mitigation, given that they brought the matter to the RFU after conducting their own investigation earlier this month.

OUCH!

Whilst I agreed with welsh using the rulebook to gain promotion, it seems like it's the same rulebook which will see them down again.
The precedents are 1 point per match.

Wellies announced his retirement today. Great player much underated.

England are bruised after France clash but there is no talk of Grand Slam, says Chris Robshaw. We have not banned any Grand Slam talk in the England camp because I can honestly say nobody in the squad is talking about it anyway.
"Daily Telegraph 25.2.2013"

Joe Launchbury admitted today it would be “awesome” to help England win a first Grand Slam for 10 years.
"Evening Standard 25.2.2013"

They are both possibly right though AA.

No talk in the camp but journalist asks jumped up English player about said GS. Young upstart answers naively etc.
Reinforces jumped up arrogant English player status.

Lol @ surfer. Excited young rugby player playing for his country admits how good it'd be to win a major tournament in style shocker.

Hardly arrogant, hell, I'd be excited, and my mentality - polished by a psychologist or not - would be expecting to win against Italy and shade it against wales.

That's not arrogance its realism - or do you expect professional players to wander around believing they can't win?

I also would not believe quotes in the press either, they will twist them to write a story / headline.

And if that is arrogance then nearly every professional sportsman is guilty of it.

Looking for it continually in other teams players is a sure sign of a chip on the shoulder.

or is that too much of a generalisation and reading too much into your comment?

*cue Welsh patriot society head member*

Entertaining isn't it, that us English can't be patriotic or enthusiastic about our sports without being dubbed "arrogant". Lets look at some other stereotypes:

Aussies - now they are arrogant
Scots - permanant chip vs england
French - bitter over Waterloo
Kiwi's - smug about being better than everyone else
Welsh - unrealistic most of the time.

etc etc yawn yawn get over yourselves ffs and enjoy the rugby....

AA - I would never believe everything I read in the papers to be the exact words spoken by the person.

If you do you are incredibly naive.

True but sometimes the English go a bit too far in trying not to look arrogant and so lose some of the joy. Nothing wrong with what Launcbury said. Pretty sure North said much the same last year. Its the captains denials that look at bit daft. Obviously a grand slam is the aim. It was at the start of the season and is much more likely now.

If my country had only won one grand slam in 18 years as a player I'd be talking about it. There again perhaps not with a history of messing things up.

It was a similar situation at the RWC. Except of course, Wales had and never have won one. Of course they were robbed by the ref.......
Personally, I wouldn't swap 1 world champion title (or even RWC finalist) for a million grand slams, but that's just me.

Looks to me like the tackler released Ashton, found his balance by placing his hands on the ground, then legally challenged for the ball. Ashton holds on. Penalty to blue? Question is, had the ref called ruck?

Even wearing white (!) i thought Ashton should have been pinged for that at the time. But (unlike in wendyball and) as Brian Moore likes to remind us, "It doesn't matter what I think. It's only what the ref decides that matters." 😉

The decision was pen to england and it was what finally killed the game. The refs favouring the ball carrier is part of the reason Warburton has lost form or rather the refs have moved the game away from his strengths.

Blue 23 doesn't release Ashton. He is still in contact with him during and after getting to his feet. Ashton doesn't release or place the ball immediately. Take your pick.

It was an awful clear out too.

Pretty sure the ref said hands in ruck not tackler not releasing which is more borderline as i'm not sure he ever had his weight on his feet.
