Informative and soothing.....if you forget the Orca's feeding:) lucky to be on that boat at that time.

We've had a Waxwing in the garden, a while back though, and not fed by apples;)

Should I be in a similar situation with Orca swimming alongside a boat, I’m pretty sure I’d cry.

I was doing my own Winter watch earlier today, on the Somerset Levels. Didn’t see any Bitterns, but a few Great White Egrets, a couple of Marsh Harriers, and an absolute shit-ton of starlings, in numbers I couldn’t possibly begin to estimate! Half a million, three-quarters of a million, a million or more? Sadly, no murmurations. Oh, and lots and lots of ducks. Not really interested in ducks.

I thought the same thing and had to wipe my eye while watching last night!

Incredible footage and whilst I felt sorry for the Seal I was also pleased that the Orca had a meal and survived.

Those photos of long-tailed tits were just amazing, particularly the third one

Yeah, they’re adorable little birds, I get a little group on my feeders, and they’re like little feathery lollipops! <br /><br />

Orkney voles! 🥰🫶🏻

I lived down nr Castle Sween Argyll as a kid and we spent a lot of time out in the dingy sea fishing and often had the orcas breach the water to have a look at us (there’s a resident west coast pod) quite an experience and after a while you begin to recognise them individually, it was always the patriarch of the pod that came up first to check us out but then the younger orcas would come up, sometimes a bit too close for our liking as 12yr olds in a 10ft boat. I guess my mum will still have the pics somewhere so I’ll ask her to hunt them out.

I liked the Orkney vole! When we went I spent quite some time looking for one without success. I did manage to see two Shetland wrens when we went to Shetland and woud love to go to Fair Isle to look for Fair Isle wrens.

We were also were hoping to see Orca no sightings for us. 🙁

Orkney and Shetland are absolute magical places and well worth a visit. 🙂

I'm enjoying this series, whereas I've lost interest in some of the previous <Season>watch. I wonder if it's that they have to be a little more creative at this time of year rather than just talking about badgers and beavers and cute birds in nestboxes? Having said that, I always enjoy stuff about lichens and bugs.

Orkney and Brownsea have been great.

Unfortunately Packham's innuendo and trouser stroking is making my daughter feel uncomfortable.

I know they probably need to pad out a live show a bit, but the forced 'banter' seems to waste a lot of time and winds me up.

Had a day on Brownsea Island doing some red squirrel and bird spotting with my daughter for her birthday, October last year.

Had a guide show us around for a bit, then wandered around in our own time afterwards. It's bloody ace, thoroughly recommended

I have a lot of time for Chris Packham as a campaigner for nature but the live presentation segments with him and Michaela Strachan degrade the whole show. Maybe it's time to get some different presenters?

I do admit to fast forwarding through their bits.

I like the humour that they bring, and his knowledge is excellent, so it would be a pity to remove that.

the camera man standing next to iolo in the hide, was wearing a fetching outfit. it looked like a sleeping bag, but i'm sure it was warm.
