Hi,

I'm just trying to sort out some travel insurance for Italy. They have now made it compulsory to have third party liability insurance. Any recommendations? Possibly for an annual multi trip policy?

Thanks,

Mick

I asked a similar question on the ski/snowboard thread. Didn't get any replies. Have been looking at non financially ruinous options and in the end opted for a snowcard single trip policy that seems to cover that.

Have previously happily used BMC when solo on mountain/winter trips but cost seemed excessive for a family. Dogtag too had various things bump up the premium to "a bit much" for what was realistic.

Might be worth checking what you can get as cover on your lift pass - as I understand it some places offer this type of insurance as an add on for set amount of € per day.

As far as I know, it's very hard to buy travel insurance without it including third party liability cover.

Your home insurance (contents) cover probably also has it, but there might be some wording about jurisdiction? Often it'll only cover actions brought against you under the various UK law systems. I would be tempted to say it might not be enough.

A quick look on lift pass cover for some resorts in Italy also seems to include liability cover.

Who's "they" anyway?

I looked at this when I last went snowboarding to Italy and found my travel insurance covers it. I've got the travel pack with Barclays which is full travel insurance including winter sports cover and comprehensive RAC breakdown for about £14 a month for two of us. Seems reasonable to me.

Check with your bank maybe to see what they offer?

I was never asked for proof mind, don't know who would even ask?

They'll offer it with your lift pass. A couple of euros a day extra IIRC which in the grand scheme of things when on a snow holiday is nothing.
