It's more important to me than Christmas to be honest.

Days to get longer, slowly, Spring on the way!

Id normally be up on a burial mound sitting by a fire but the weather is awful today. Bah.

Anyone up to anything pagan?🌄

Does sitting in an ancient forest, drinking malt whisky and eating salted cashews while watching the stars and listening to the river run over the stones count?

I didn't get home until 10:30 this morning so I think that counts as a solstice trip.

I took the chainsaw for a walk tonight, got to our digging spot and decided cutting up fallen trees, on your own, in the dark and 2 miles from the nearest road, isn't a great idea.

Was a nice wee walk anyway, tracks are too sodden to ride anyway.

I startled / was startled by deer, a badger, rabbits and some alpacas on my run. No goat action though

Excellent work scotroutes.

I love the Winter Solstice and the slow start towards Spring.

I really dislike that Mint Sauce interpretation of it though, twee art to the max.

A very old pine.

As above, I think the actual solstice has more meaning to me than some made-up dates.

Bugger, my tree spotting skills are wanting.

Totally agree on the solstice. God forbid it's ever commercialised in any way.

Yeah, it’s a real thing with real significance, rather than something tacked on just to get the local yokels to turn away from their nasty pagan ways.
Didn’t do anything special, the weather was just too dreich, and the nearest place of any real significance, Avebury, is usually rammed with aging hippies and neo-Druids banging drums, they even manage to spoil the trees by hanging plastic tat from all of the branches. 😖
All I ask is a bit of peace and quiet.

Never thought of it in those terms before, but that's actually very much how I feel about this time of year.

I'll maybe pass on the whole goat sacrifice thing though. Maybe just have one in a curry.

Following on from the Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox, I sat in a Zoom meeting, read some e-mails and got distracted by YouTube.

Does sitting in your living room watching The Godfather while drinking an espresso martini count?

Nothing. I’d like to do the yuel log thing one year..

Due to freight restrictions, we're doing a Huel log this year.

Went out of nice meal, bottle of champagne then another bottle of wine at home.

No druid connection, we just got married on 21 Dec 17 years ago as we fancied a Christmas wedding.

No goats, but the aurora was pretty spectacular for a while late last night. Must have been pretty good for you too Colin, even from under your tree..?

Winter Solstice means far more to me than does the commercial greed-fest that is Christmas. Normally we have a local trail ride out on the Sunday of the solstice weekend with a big mob of pals from the local biking and running community here in Angus, followed by soup and cake by the fireside. Not this year for the first time in almost 20 years though....

Belatedly turned in a 'Solstice Century' today, beautiful day although a bit too much black ice about, I'd swear I was descending slower than I was climbing, average speed was kn the toilet and I limped home in the dark with rapidly failkng lights...

Still, good way to start the new Solar year!

I was at work til **** o clock at night, but celebrated with a couple of cans when I got home.
I agree with folks above tho, it has more significance to me than xmas or any other made up bullshine.

Things went down hill when they outlawed the first born.

It’s health and safety gone mad I tell thee...
