...there's no snow?

Sounds stupid but looking at Lakes-based courses which had 2 day slots you can pre-book.
Guaranteed there won't be good snowy conditions on all those dates so do you learn crampon/ice axe techniques minus the white stuff? Glencoe is a very long way to drive for just 2 days.

Just out of interest, has anyone done a WS course in the Lakes?

A really good reason for booking somewhere there's more likely to be snow I'm afraid. Comes up regularly in these threads. You'll get a refund/re-booking though?

Yep we did crampon work on grass, didn't manage an actual ice axe arrest but went through the motions and lots of theory.

It's actually quite nice to go through some of the stuff when your not freezing knee deep in crap wet scottish snow unable to hear what is going on. Most of the techniques are the same and can be taught without snow.
