Like eating dark chocolate sat by the embers of a fire while a cold frost takes hold outside.

Fullers Porter
Mad squirrel have a couple good ones
Whitstable brewery had a good Porter.
Ghost ship
BananaBread Beer

I can’t stand the plum porters and that sort of thing. Much prefer chocolatey/malty stuff.

I’ve a mate through the bike club that brews in his shed.
He did a porter, it worked out at 13% and was quite honestly the best I have ever tasted.
I’m spoiled now and just want home to make more.

And yes, fruity beer is shite

For the non—alky crowd

https://shop.bigdropbrew.com/collections/best-sellers/products/galactic-milk-stout

(Love non-alky beer. Presently the comfortable end of a drinkable Merlot and a nice whisky)

Titanic Plum Porter, if you want a change from the coffee/chocolate usual suspects. And fruity enough to count as one of your 5 a day.

St Peters do a similar one as well.

Wild Beer- millionaire
Quantock Breakfast stout
Wiper and True milk stout
Siren- Carribbean chocolate stout (they do a few) also their broken dream.
Kinnegar yanarroddy

Cairngorm brewery had some really great autumn/winter beers on last time I was up in Aviemore. Well worth a look.

Have a look at Honest Brew, they have a decent selection and as far as I am aware they aren't part owner by inbev. Someone may correct me though.

I am brewing a cherry chocolate porter, but shouldn't be too sweet will have a nice balance of maltiness and bitterness. Some of the 'pudding' style stouts are just plain wrong Far far too sweet and sickly.

Old Peculier

Guinness West Indies Porter

Sainsbury’s London Porter

I think all of these have a ‘winter’ feel to the taste.

Well that post just cost me 36 quid! £6 off with a code though so I say that's a win!

A couple of years ago I put in some research buying every "Christmas" beer I could find.

90% were just pretty generic bitters with Santa or reindeer on the label and not worth bothering with. But there was one that actually tasted like Christmas pudding. Anyone got any ideas?

+1 for the Dark Island, although to paraphrase ‘A Dark Island is not just for Christmas’. A quantity is always consumed on my annual trip to The Gairloch/Poolewe/Ullapool area which is usually in May.
Made me think and I’ll look to see if I can find it locally
If you are ever in the Low Newton Northumberland area, the Sea Coal brewed on the premises is a lovely dark wheat beer.

Yep TINAS I had one like that on draught in the Coach and Horses, Great Brington. Brandy mixed in, the lot. It was so outrageously good I just can't remember what it was (or riding home).

One of the good things about living in Todmorden was going to the Golden Lion and trying the stouts sold by the shop at the back. I even had a short-lived stout of the week on Instagram
