Recently bought a new desktop PC, Windows 7 pre-installed. As expected, a mass of updates are required which I allow it to do. During re-start I get the following message: Failure Configuring Windows update, Reverting Changes. It's the second time its happened now- what would be causing this?
It also came with a Windows 10 license but having used Win 10 on my laptop I'd rather keep running Win 7 on my desktop so would rather resolve the update issue rather than install Win 10
Which update? Think I had a couple like that but the resolved themselves in the end. Though I much prefer win 10.
Not sure- how will I know which update it is? Its been reverting changes for the last 20 mins so waiting for that to finish.
May go Win 10 in future but the software I use runs better on Win 7 (according to my IT dept in work, and I generally prefer the layout etc)
I think it should tell you where it's up to in the update manager. Google the update and failed to see what comes up. Does your it department not help with this sort of thing?
its my home pc. ok cheers will have a look at that when its finished revertng

sorted now... got hold of Microsoft support who remotely fixed it. Something to do with trying to install too many updates in one hit (I had around 60+ in total). Did them in batches of 20 and all updates installed eventually.
