Had to use Zoom for something recently. After installing it and joining the meeting my video screen was just black. Ie, I could see them but they couldn't see me. So, my webcam isn't working.
I've been reading and looking for a solution to this all night and I'm getting nowhere. Lenovo laptop with integrated camera. Windows 8.1. The camera has had a blob of Blu-Tak over it since new. This is the first reason I've had to use it. I tried uninstalling it and restarting. Then I used a site called Webcam Tests which verified I had a camera but said it was being blocked or used by another program. A little light came on with the camera when testing so progress. Next I used a program to check processes and kill them. Nope.
Any ideas?
1) Try another app to see if it's a Zoom problem or a hardware / driver problem.
2) Pick the rest of the Blu-Tac off the lens.
3) Get shut of that legacy shite and install Windows 10.
Windows has a built in camera app that you can use to test the camera.
Ahh, I did not know that. Still black screen.
I had this problem once on a Lenovo laptop. Is there a Lenovo camera app somewhere on your computer? On mine the app had a security feature that disabled the camera by default. Once you enable it using that app, other apps can use it.
