Just got a HP Pavilion dm1 netbook thing with Windows 7, tried to connecte to my lcd tv via hdmi.

However

every time i plug in the hdmi cable the netbook screen turns itself off.

Does any one have any idea how i force it to stay on.

It won't stay on if you've diverted it to the HDMI AFAIK

This isn't a Windows 7 problem - it's specific to your laptop/drivers.

Win 7 has a presentation mode as part of the display properties, could be be that you're trying to output/clone 1920 x 1080 but your laptop screen will only do 1280 x 800. Try doing Extend my desktop or leave it in presentation mode.

Cheers for the suggestions.

Gonna try them out when i get the opportunity tonight.

Pretty poor for an entertainment PC! HDMI worked ok out of the box with my vista laptop.

Probably need to tell it act as a dual setup.

Once you've plugged in the HDMI cable right click on the desktop and select Screen Resolution in there should be an option for tweaking displays.
