Simple question really, can my dad's laptop running windows7 be given the appearance of windows 98 ? thanks

Because he's old and set in his ways and feels it is less visually cluttered.(Dads 81 and has macular degeneration so his sight is poor)

I'm a bit of a luddite in some respects; with XP, I always turn off the chroms so it looks like W98. It's faster, and doesn't look like it was designed for CBBC.

With Windows 7 though, I can see no compelling reason to make it look like a fourteen year old operating system. You can turn some stuff off but you lose functionality in the process. Far better to persevere and learn the new interface.

If he's got eyesight issues, there's things you can do. High contrast colour scheme, font scaling (which actually works, unlike 98 / XP) and so on.

Mum's in her 70's and loving W7. It will become easier with use. I set it up for her (using teamviewer) so that everything is where she wants it.

As cougar says there is stuff in control panel to make it easier to see if your eyesight is poor.
