It's not possible to get to the rear of our house without going through the house, so we can't have a window cleaner - they could do the front, but I'd have to do the back, so I might as well do the front as well.

To date I've been using an extendable pole thing I picked up at Aldi (or maybe Lidl) several years ago, but it recently snapped so I need to replace it. It wasn't a water fed job, just a pole that I could stick a sponge / wiper / squeegee on the end. It was never brilliant as it was as flexy as anything, but it allowed me to do the job.

So, what do I look for to replace it? Has anyone recently bought something? Is there anything you can recommend, or am I just going to have to pick something and hope?

How old are the windows,  ours have a way of opening so you can clean them from the inside of the house.

What kind of windows do you have? if newish upvc can you open with button like in this video? I discovered this a few years ago and it meant a pole was no longer needed!

Edit beaten to it!

I bought the screwfix kit, you now have to buy the extending pole separately, it used to be in the kit.  It works fine but I now use a jetwash and ladder.  You have to be careful as the force pushes you backwards.  Does all the gutters too.

Checked the windows and the mechanism doesn't allow them to slide over. Those at the front (and in the bathrooms) are top swing anyway

From memory, it is law in Scotland that you must be able to clean the upstairs windows from the inside. Good idea imo
