Will a Forerunner 35 with a chest HR monitor output a pulse 'graph' (and therefore) missed heartbeat?

Is there a way to see the output in this kind of format:

Yes, it's to determine if my heartbeat is occasionally missing/irregular. I've been to the doc so this is in addition to what the docs are doing, not instead of.

Not a chance.  These things are designed for people to run and bounce around while wearing them so the signal they get is 'noisy' and they do their best to ignore dropped stuff.

Equipment to record what you want is a different level and the electrodes usually get stuck on to get a better contact

No. it takes an average it's not ECG.

If you need your heart monitoring the GP will give you equipment to do it.

Thanks everyone, as I thought.

Only the new Apple Watch can do this - but I don't think it's any sort of continuous monitoring, you have to have your opposite finger on the watch so it can make the electrical "loop" through your arms.

there are several apps that you can use on your phone that take an average of the missed beats to see if its an issue.

I tried it but it was all too complicated for me and worried me about something that may not be an issue. so i uninstalled it and immediately felt better

They gave me a lifecor for a couple of weeks. It's incredible how much better I felt once it went back. It's not easy being the worried well. A proper illness would be a lot less stressful. 🙂

They aren't that reliable (compared to an ECG), as they are designed to filter out noise etc and only detect the R wave. You should be able to download the raw data files which will give you the individual R-R intervals across the period of exercise (this is how the apps work out heart rate variability).

However, these aren't a clinical grade ECG, and will not show you the trace, so apparent missed beats (i.e. large gaps in R-R interval) may just be the algorithm junking the data as it didn't meet the criteria for selection, the chest strap went funny etc. So if you want to see the trace to identify missed beats, the only way to do this is with a proper ECG.

Not on the Forerunner 35, but some of the higher end Garmins can record heart rate variability (RR intervals). eg Forerunner 935 or Fenix models. Note you need to be using a chest strap, the optical sensors are not detailed enough for this.

Then you would need some software to analyse this data. Maybe something like Kubios?  https://www.kubios.com/hrv-standard/
