What’s good and what’s not? We live next to a large mature woodland that has lots of deer, foxes, birds of prey and a badger sett. My son’s really into wildlife and would like a camera trap to snap what goes on.

How much have you got to spend and how good do you want the image quality to be?

I reckon up to £100. A smidge more if it is required. I’d like good daytime shots, night time I reckon we’ll struggle to get good B&W IR unless I spend vast amounts.

We've got the previous model for this one that has the same dual lens setup for daylight & IR shots, and the night shots are so much better than the cheaper cam that we had before. Not *that* much over your budget

We got a generic "Campark" camera. I wouldn't bother with wifi enabled cameras again, I very rarely use that functionality, I either review videos on the screen or plug it into the computer and download them.

I WOULD though suggest something with a solar panel to keep it charged.

We bought a TC09 Trail Camera off Amazon.

Works fine and the solar panel is handy, we had it left out for a couple of months and it was still powered and working fine.

Quality of videos was fine too.

I borrowed the browning one above and it was ok, the night time images were much better than expected, the day time images worse.

All in all it was good although good images depended on a good set up position so a bit of experiment was required

Can't beat the first time you get a badger on film, awesome fun!

I’ve bought a browning. Should turn up tomorrow. Probably along with a free NRA subscription.  Thanks for the advice!

The camera has been in the woods for three nights. the first two in a clearing that looked to be an intersection of a number of paths, but we got nothing. So last night we moved it to be next to a disused sett and turned up this. Thanks again!

Good spot!

WE dont have roe deer around here

The Browning quality is much better than other cams I've tried WHEN they work.

I have 3 now that dont work properly, mostly battery related faults. If yours uses too many batteries, try lithium ones, theyre worth it
