Looking for a WiFi/Ethernet device to add to my hifi to stream Tidal as bluetooth from my phone doesn't really cut it. Seen a bumch of stuff in the 1000+ range but that's a bit out of my price range really. Looking for something simple and decent. There was something mentioned on here recently but I can't find it again and anyway there might be other stuff out there. All suggestions welcome
As is the way of things as soon as I post I remember what it was I saw, a Wiim mini. I need to sort my search skills
I guess it depends on budget and quality required, do you have a DAC or do you need an all in one unit?
Lots of people seem to start with a bluesound node2 as an hifi start point, or basic the wiim mini.
I’d say it’s better to get something that offers full Tidal connect integration, many options on the net at all price ranges.
thanks, that's a great start. It does look like there is the Wiim mini and then a big jump up into the next bracket
Just bought a Wiim mini for the tidal connect. Highly recommended. Hifi purists will tell you the DAC is not good enough, I have a decent amp and speakers and it is fine. You could always add a DAC in the future if needed, but I doubt I will ever bother. Wi-Fi only though if that matters to you.

WiFi only is just fine. It's all in the same room so there isn't really any issue there. It looks like even the Pro version uses the same DAC and I don't use the super fancy version of Tidal, that's not really what I'm doing, so the mini looks like it's just fine. I'll keep hunting for a bit though just in case
If you do a search on John Darko’s site he’s done a few reviews on the budget end, just search for network & they’ll come up.

I really couldn’t find anything comparable for the price. I’m pretty sceptical of the higher end stuff really, the chromecast audio showed us what was possible for very little money. Seriously diminishing returns.
I received a WiiM Mini for Christmas and plugged it into the Aux of my '90s hifi.
Brilliant piece of kit. As well as streaming from apps it automatically found my NAS containing all my ALAC-ripped CDs, all easy peasy.
I've been using a Bluesound Node with my Audiolab 8300 amp and B&w 606 anniversary speakers. Perfectly good enough for me.
I just stream my phone / iPad to the Bluesound node.
Link to the streamer below, however other retailers are available.
I think there is an updated version available too (Bluesound Node 2i). Not sure about the cost though.
Bluesound node seems to be 5x the price of the Wiim thing although very nice.
I'll take a look at that John Darko stuff, thanks
I received a Wiim mini as a replacement for my Yamaha WXAD-10 that would frequently loose contact with the router and/or phone.
Wiim was setup in just a couple of minutes and has had a rock solid connection with network ever since.
My middle aged ears cannot hear any difference between the Yamaha and the Wiim, despite the Yamaha having a “far superior “ Burr-Brown DAC.
