I live in a 1970's detached house. In my living room, mid way along the wall, is the internet router. On the other side of the wall where the router is, is my attached garage (no internal door). and is likely 10ft from where my bike is on the Turbo.
All through the house, the internet reception is 100meg of grand internet. Except for in the garage where my turbo is. Here lies the issue.
I *think* the best option is to drill through the wall between living room and garage and run a cat5 cable. For neatness this would be best done at just above skirting board height. - Will this effect the damp course or cause any unforeseen issues? I think drilling the hole 100mm above the skirting board should avoid any possible wiring in the wall - is this the case?
Alternatively, is there a less destructive way to boost reception in the garage to allow you tube to work better whilst on the turbo?
Thanks
Is there a mains circuit in there shared with the house?
The least destructive way is to use a plug in booster that runs through the mains wiring. That's how I get wifi to my garage (which is at the end of the garden). Very simple.
Like Couger is suggesting, Powerline adaptors are your friend.
I use Devolo.
Powerline adaptors! ideal, thanks!
also, it saves me making a hash of it tonight after a glass of wine whilst Mrs Scruff-to-be is out with her pals!
I use tp link boosters. Â work brilliantly
TP Link powerline booster out to my detached garage. Boosts wifi to the shed (summerhouse) also.
