I’m after some wellies for walks in my local woods. The ground there is very slippery throughout the winter so I’d like something with good grip in mud. Also worth noting that I have stupidly wide feet…
I’ve seen the thread on Lowa Recons, but I’ve already got some good Meindle walking boots and it’s wellies I’m after. I’ve had a look on the Aigle website (thanks to the link from @TiRed on that thread) and these look okay, but I’m wondering if anyone makes boots with soles more like those on my Inov-8 mudclaws…
Have a look for some Bekina Steplite X non safety wellies. Nice wide comfy fit. Lightweight and warm. And about the best grip of ANY footwear short of crampons. I've been wearing them all day, everyday, for about 10 years now.
Dunlop purofort thermo+
Thank me later. I've had mine for years of marching up and down the railway and up and down railway embankments
Mrsjonwe is loving her muck arctic long boots in these conditions. Vibram soles, warm and comfy. Not sure about widths though.
I got these a few weeks ago, I normally have all shoes in a 10, these were definitely large and wide. Far better than I was expecting for the price - £35.
Pavers wellies
Jamiemcf: do you know if those wellies would be considered zero drop ? Eg no height difference between the heel and toe area? Or little difference? They look flat to me (which would be awesome)

i have these because that’s what mole valley farmers had in my size. Turns out they are very good.
Many thanks everyone - loads of great suggestions! Having inspected sole treads, prices, returns policy and availability I've ordered a pair of Bekina Steplite X wellies - fingers crossed they'll keep me both warm and upright in the woods 🙂
