So we have had a quote for a new bathroom included a design drawn up by Wickes. So far Wickes actually are offering a competitive quote!!

Couple of questions: Anyone any experience of Wickes installation?

Some of their components are horrendously overpriced and while I will be trying to haggle them down does anyone know if we can provide some of the components that will need to be installed?

I've worked for someone who is a kitchen / bathroom installer for them and there work was ok, finish decent didn't agree with some of the other stuff.

Just been to look at another job where they had a Wickes installer fit the bathroom and the finish is terrible, so much so that I told them to reject it.

Wickes, like all the big sheds, will only be as good as the installer on the day, some good, some not so.

They recently approached me to become an installer for them, but `I took it no further so can't offer any insight I'm afraid.

Hi

As above - check out the fitter

wickes kitchen here, very pleased with finish and fitter could not have been better or more professional. It was quite a strange experience - I didn’t want to lump the salesman ( * unlike some who didn’t have a per item price list just a special full kitchen price , he could even turn up when he said he would and actually use his phone to return calls and even designed us pretty much what we wanted and explained stuff, a skill level beyond the vast majority we dealt with), anyway we asked him for a really good fitter and said we’d wait for the right one , it worked for us

My parents had a wet room intstalled by wickes .It turned out great and they got a father and son local fitter who were extremely competent.

As stated above its luck of the the draw. I don’t know how much they police their fitters.

Had a kitchen fitted through Wickes. As above, the fitters and suppliers you get (we had a fitting team, flooring guy and a worktop supplier) are independent so it varies, but if you aren't happy you can get Wickes to re-do it or change the fitter - had friends who had to have a whole kitchen re-done by a different team. So it's a kind of insurance against picking a bad fitter yourself.

We saw that Wickes' appliances were expensive, so cut them from the quote and ordered direct through AO. The Wickes installer was happy to fit them, bit it's probably on you if they don't fit!

No experience of wicks but given the nightmare we had with b&q kitchens and friends had with Ikea kitchens, my current approach is to find fitters I can trust and use that as the start point for the job.
