I've got the Chrome plug in on my computer and for years(?) it was happily sitting there syncing my passwords between my phone and computer.
A few months ago it stopped working and now the password list on the computer showing iCloud Passwords is empty.
No issues with Keychain on the phone or Chrome passwords on the computer that I know of, just the sync between them has broken.
Any way to fix it? I'm considering going full Apple and getting a Mac mini but this seems a bit of a drastic way to solve the issue...
I’m no techie by any stretch of the imagination, but I’ve read enough about Chrome to make me avoid it.
Just to say, my Mac Mini is a 2010 model, which was the last with the optical drive. When I bought it new, I had the optical taken out and a second HDD installed giving me a total of about 1Tb across the two drives. The larger drive carrying music, etc failed, was replaced, then failed again later on. Last year a former work colleague rebuilt it with a 2Tb SSD in one bay, with the original 350Gb drive with all the original OS media on in the other. Not too shabby for a 13 yo Mini.

What do you mean by that, a Google chrome cast device? why would you plug that into a PC?
Or are you plugging a chromcast into a Mac...?
I have many questions, but few answers...
I’ve had loads of issues exactly like yours where in Edge (chrome, rebranded) the iCloud plugin just fails to sync anything. In the end I’ve given up and started to use KeePass as an independent arbitrage of passwords between my phone and my pc. It looks like the ms authentication app will also now do this seamlessly.
What do you mean by that, a Google chrome cast device?
No. They mean they’ve been using a software plug-in for the Chrome browser to sync passwords.

Lol. Yeah this ☝️

Interesting, I have Authenticator on my phone anyway (because of work 🙄). So can I tell my phone to use Authenticator to manage passwords and presumably switch off Keychain? /Goes off to Google & check.

I’ve tried a few different browsers over the years and always come back to Chrome, familiarity I guess and generally it works OK. Although recently it’s got pretty clunky.
I do like the idea of giving a Mac a go, the main thing I use a computer for these days is internet and looking at photos, which are mostly taken on iPhones so presumably would show up seamlessly in the library.

Yes seamlessly. Also the iphone/mac keychain integration is buttery smooth, especially with touchid keyboard and using keychain's (fairly new) built in authenticator so you don't need another app for 2FA. You just thumb print for password, thumb print again for 2FA. Been an absolute game changer for me.
Problem is that every time I consider changing the computer I realise how little I actually use it, so don’t really want to spend money it.
I spent some time playing about today, uninstalled iCloud Passwords from the PC which uninstalled the entire iCloud app(?), reinstalled it and currently have my Keychain passwords back in Chrome. So I’ll see how it goes for now and see how good a job it does at keeping them synced.
