Seems to be getting worse at the moment - it looks as though each page is loading 4 or 5 times. And the sidebars aren't loading at all...
Ah, so it is - never look down there. STWET does give you it straight after the last post where kayak wants though.
BTW for anybody interested I've been running a new version of STW Extender Tools with added functionality for a while, but the original author hasn't published my changes, so I'll probably publish it myself shortly. Just wondering now whether I can make the links that provides below the last post go back to the page you came from as TurnerGuy wants...

I can make you a collaborator/owner on github if you want to just base off the existing one? I can also do the same in the chrome app store if I can figure out how... For some reason it won't let me upload a zip of the latest code.

Also getting the back button issue sporadically in Chrome on Linux Mint as it appears that my Premier sub has run out - will get a sub I guess!

EDIT: managed to update the chrome store

Well, I usually just use backspace. Or Alt and the arrow keys if I'm forwards as well. Or, the two dedicated buttons on this laptop. World's your mollusc, really.

There isn't a trackpad on my Nexus 7...

The entire screen is a trackpad.

Well I must be a flid then cos I can't use two fingers to swoosh anywhere here. I am however right now using them for a more conventional communication function.... 😛

Still happening for me.

It started about two weeks ago on desktop PC, laptop, and Android phone. All running Firefox. This is the only website that the fault occurs on.

Chaps, the YTS webmaster has obviously been fiddling again. The back button issue fixed a couple of weeks ago is back. Had a release by any chance? Android BTW. There's also the new issue of the page 'flicking' as it's being loaded. It seems to fully load and just as you pick an element, the page content jumps up a couple of lines so you pick the wrong element. Does this make sense?

Still wrong on Firefox.

Funny, as a developer I am embarrassed by bugs in my code and want to fix it asap. Obviously web developers don't think like this...

I suppose Firefox only has about 14% of the market, so not a priority.

Its usually advert related so I suppose they are at the mercy of the poor code embedded in the adverts. Ashy, have you got ads turned off?

Not working for me (Firefox 30.0.3 on Windows 8.1). Really frustrating when you google something and it gives a result on STW, find it isn't what you want and then want to go back to your google results. On the plus side it does give me a nostalgic feeling that I've fallen in to a time warp of 1990s web site design.

Edit: Firefox has just updated itself to 33.1 and it doesn't work on that either.

If you click and hold the back button it should show all of you back options. Usually the page has loaded then reloaded a few times hence one back press not doing anything

But Nick, that is just a work around for shonky code. This is the only site I use where the back button doesn't go...back page by page. The other sites also carry 3rd party ads...

Indeed, and that's what I did. But it's not what I should have to do. As boblo says, the back button should take you back

Assuming it's a rogue advert, all you [P]remium users can switch them off in the site's Account settings you know.

Anyone done that and still seeing an issue?

Cougar, presumably advertisers pay to advertise and if they provide the code, it's tested before being released into the wild? Assuming they're paying, it's logical they'd prefer not to piss everyone off in the process ... Blaming 3rd parties is a bit daft though really (but something I reserved the privilege of in my day job 🙂 )

Windows 7, Firefox. Brand new laptop, all updated and running tikkety boo. except for this site, back button still screwed. I'm not a premium user but was thinking about asking Santa for a subscription. TBH, if premium users have the same problem I'll not bother.

I can confirm its a problem with the adverts and Firefox. If I disable them it works ok. Turn them on and my back button is fubarred.

Is it the back button not working or the ads reloading the page several times? If you hold the back button it should give a list of the last pages. If it is the current page several times then it is the reload issue rather than the back button itself. ie you are going back, just back to the same page several times until you actually go back.

[img] [/img]-ally

*There is a workaround [hold the Back button and select the page you want to go to]

*The issue isn't on STW's servers, making it harder to find, let alone fix

*Apart from those that haven't found the way to turn the ads off when logged-in as Premier, those affected are all using the site for free

*It doesn't affect every browser, even.

It looks like it's pretty much lowest priority to fix.

Probably will happen after they add support for WEBM and other niceties [Don't hold your breath!].

Jesus you guys are unbalivable, why not just say it 'we have no interest in people using our website for free'. Not sorting your own comapnies problems, then saying well it's the customers fault is a rediculous attitude. How do I even know that once I've piad my money to be a Premier user it will work, appart from your dubious assurances that sound like something a con artist would say?

You said it Dragon!

This forum would be nothing without the input of we forumites; that is our 'payment'. So how about giving us a little R.E.S.P.E.C.T and sorting the issue out?

I was going to do the £10 subscription to get rid of the adds but didn't really want to 1) do a direct debit and forget and 2) pay £15 next year.

£10 is OK as I tried a membership for a year but didn't read any of the mags.

Woah woah woah guys - I'm nothing to do with the site admin/team/etc!!

The above was just, like, my opinon man.

Tuner Guy, I thought there was a no-ads-only sub? I only went Premier myself* a couple of day ago because I wanted to read the Mag, but the lack of ads makes the site faster, and incidentally fixes the issue with the back button.

*After happily shitposting for free for a few years 😀

Both Premier and non-Premier users should have the expectation the back button working. It is one thing to pay for enhanced functionality but quite another to be expected to cough-up for the services you would consider to be fundemental.

In business your reputation and image are everything. The forum is a direct reflection of the ST magazine business in general. If something isn't right, it matters, and ought to be put right as quickly as possible.

Well, that's expectations for you.

I don't disagree that it should work, and if you read back there have been a few workarounds suggested previously which might help until the issue is totally resolved, but I reject absolutely the notion that you get to start making demands about something if you're getting it for free.

Oh, and anecdotally,

In order to try and help I've just had a play with the site using IE11, no browser plugins loaded and not logged in, and it seems to be working just fine for me.
